12、functions . One is to evaluate employees. The other is to help employees improve their performance by providing them feedback. The evaluation process can be difficult. Sometimes an employee may become defensive .As we have seen, there are several things a manager can do to avoid this defensiveness .

13、 One way is to have the worker evaluate himself. The managers relationship to the employee can also influence the outcome of the interview. Remember, the performance appraisal is not a weapon.
