思考題

動(dòng)名詞(gerund)和現(xiàn)在分詞(presentparticiple)的區(qū)別

所謂動(dòng)名詞(gerund)就是名詞,只是保有一些動(dòng)詞的功能.所以它在句中可以

作主語(yǔ),賓語(yǔ),表語(yǔ),同位語(yǔ),定語(yǔ)等那些名詞可以充當(dāng)?shù)某煞?

而現(xiàn)在分詞(presentparticiple)相當(dāng)于形容詞,在句中作定語(yǔ)或者狀語(yǔ)

所以當(dāng)-ing形式出現(xiàn)在句中作主語(yǔ),賓語(yǔ),同位語(yǔ)時(shí),它肯定時(shí)gerund.

當(dāng)-ing形式出現(xiàn)在句中作狀語(yǔ)時(shí),它肯定是presentparticiple.

它們有可能被弄錯(cuò)的是作表語(yǔ)和定語(yǔ)時(shí)

1.作表語(yǔ):我們知道,名詞和形容詞都可以作表語(yǔ).

Thisiswater(n.).

Itistransparent(adj).

如果-ing/表語(yǔ)相當(dāng)于n.它就是gerund.反之相當(dāng)于adj.時(shí)它就是

present.participle.

Oneofthebestexercisesisswimming.

2.作定語(yǔ)時(shí)的區(qū)別.動(dòng)名詞作定語(yǔ)時(shí),表示它所修飾的名詞的性能和用途,

和它所修飾的名詞在邏輯上沒有主謂關(guān)系;現(xiàn)在分詞作定語(yǔ)時(shí),表示它所修

飾的名詞正在進(jìn)行的動(dòng)作,和它所修飾的名詞在邏輯上有主謂關(guān)系.

asleepingbag.(用途)=abagforsleeping

asleepingchild=achildissleeping(child是sleep的主語(yǔ),sleep

是child發(fā)出的動(dòng)作)

3.最后來解釋修飾他們到底該用是adv,還是adj.

無論是Presentparticiple.還是gerund,它們都叫做動(dòng)詞的-ing形式(所

以若有人分不清它們時(shí),多把它們混為一談).也就是說它們都有動(dòng)詞的特點(diǎn),

故而都可用adv修飾.

eg:Readinganovelintently,Ididn'trealizehecamein.(reading,現(xiàn)

分作狀語(yǔ),用advintently修飾)

eg:MydreamisspeakingEnglishperfectly.(speaking動(dòng)名詞,副詞

perfectly修飾.)

但gerund不僅有動(dòng)詞的特點(diǎn),它也有名詞的特點(diǎn),這就決定了它也可以

像名詞一樣用物主代詞,形容詞來修飾.

在英語(yǔ)中,實(shí)義動(dòng)詞按其特征可以分為兩類:持續(xù)性動(dòng)詞和瞬時(shí)性動(dòng)詞。

持續(xù)性動(dòng)詞表示一個(gè)動(dòng)作可持續(xù)一段時(shí)間,此類動(dòng)詞有

do,live,have,keep,wear,sleep,wait,work,play,stay,know,sing,dance,write

等;瞬時(shí)性動(dòng)詞表示不能持續(xù)的動(dòng)作,這種動(dòng)作發(fā)生后立即結(jié)束,此類動(dòng)詞

open,close,finish,begin,come,go,arrive,reach,leave,move,borrow,buy,die

板書設(shè)計(jì)等。許多同學(xué)常對(duì)它們混淆不清而犯各種錯(cuò)誤。下面我們就來探討它們各自

的用法。

-、在以when,assoonas,as,before,after等引導(dǎo)的時(shí)間狀語(yǔ)從句中,

謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞既可以是瞬時(shí)性動(dòng)詞,也可以是持續(xù)性動(dòng)詞。

例:Whenhecamein,Iwasdoinghomework.

Weoftentakeanapafterwehavelunch.

二、在以while引導(dǎo)的時(shí)間狀語(yǔ)從句中,謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞一般是持續(xù)性動(dòng)詞。

例:Whiletheywereworking,theysawsomethingstrange.

三、在以till,until引導(dǎo)的時(shí)間狀語(yǔ)從句中,謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞既可是瞬時(shí)性動(dòng)詞,

也可是持續(xù)性動(dòng)詞。

1.若主句的謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞是瞬時(shí)性動(dòng)詞,句子用否定結(jié)構(gòu),從句一般也用瞬

時(shí)性動(dòng)詞。

例:Motherdidn'tgotobeduntilIcamebacklastnight.

2若.主句謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞是持續(xù)性動(dòng)詞,這時(shí)句子用肯定結(jié)構(gòu)和否定結(jié)構(gòu)均可,

但含義有差別。

例:Iworkeduntilshefellasleep.(我一直工作到她睡著為止。)

haven'treceivedherletter表示一個(gè)狀態(tài)而非一個(gè)瞬間動(dòng)作。
