Introduction

Inthepreviousunit,welearnedaboutourschoolanditssurroundings.Now,wearegoingtoreviewwhatwehavelearnedbeforemovingontothenewunit.

Objectives

Bytheendofthisreview,studentswillbeableto:

Describetheirschoolanditssurroundingsusingpreviouslylearnedvocabularyandsentencestructures

Applytheappropriateprepositionsandadjectiveswhendescribinglocationandappearanceofobjectsandplaces

Usecomparativeandsuperlativeformstocomparethedifferentelementsoftheirschool

Demonstratemasteryofprepositionsofplace,specificallyin,on,andunder

VocabularyReview

Beforedivingintotheactivities,let’sreviewthevocabularywelearnedinthepreviousunit:

Activity1:DescribingMySchool

Inthisactivity,studentswillworkingroupsofthreetodescribetheirschoolanditssurroundingsusingthevocabularylearnedinthepreviousunit.Eachstudentwilltaketurnstodescribeoneelementoftheschool.

Here’sanexample:

Student1:Myschoolhasabigplaygroundwithmanytreesandflowers.

Student2:Thereisawhitebuildingnexttotheplaygroundwherewehaveourclasses.

Student3:Insidethebuilding,wehavemanyclassroomswithmanydesksandchairswherewestudy.

Afterthegrouppresentations,eachgroupwillvoteforthemostinterestingandaccuratedescription.

Activity2:ComparativeandSuperlativeForms

Inthisactivity,wewilllearnhowtocomparedifferentelementsofourschoolusingthecomparativeandsuperlativeforms.

First,let’sreviewtherules:

One-syllableadjectivesadd-erand-esttoformcomparativeandsuperlativeforms,respectively(e.g.,big,bigger,biggest).

Two-syllableadjectivesaddmoreandmosttoformcomparativeandsuperlativeforms,respectively(e.g.,beautiful,morebeautiful,mostbeautiful).

Irregularadjectiveshavetheirownforms(e.g.,good,better,best).

Now,studentswillworkinpairstochoosetwoelementsoftheirschoolandcomparethemusingthecomparativeandsuperlativeforms.Theywillthenpresenttheircomparisonstotheclass.

Here’sanexample:

Student1:Thegymisbiggerthanthelibrary.

Student2:Thecafeteriaisthebusiestplaceintheschool.

Afterthepresentations,theclasswillchoosethemostcreativeandaccuratecomparison.

Activity3:PrepositionsofPlace

Inthisactivity,wewillreviewhowtousein,on,andundertodescribethelocationofobjectsandplacesinourschool.First,let’sreviewtherules:

Inisusedtodescribesomethinginsideanenclosedspace(e.g.,Thestudentsareintheclassroom).

Onisusedtodescribesomethingontopofasurface(e.g.,Thebookisonthedesk).

Underisusedtodescribesomethingbelowasurface(e.g.,Thepenisunderthechair).

Now,studentswillworkindividuallytodescribethelocationoftenobjectsorplacesintheirschoolusingtheappropriateprepositionofplace.Theywillthenswappaperswithapartnerandcheckeachother’swork.

Here’sanexample:

Theteacherisintheclassroom.

Thewindowisonthewall.

Thebackpackisunderthechair.
