I may not end up a professional writer but I will always write, even if I am the only one interested in my work, because writing is my self-reflection. When writing, I sometimes ge
5、t worked up into such a passion that I barely know what I am saying. I just let my fingers fly over the keyboard and the ideas pour from my head. When I go back through the jumble of unpunctuated(未加標(biāo)點的) ideas, I notice a theme running through the writing. I dont try to put a moral in the theme, but
6、invariably it happens. Evaluating the theme and the rest of the writing helps me interpret my own character and read my bottled-up feelings at times. In opinion essays, my values show. In stories, the fictional characters express my beliefs. Every day my experience and knowledge increase, and I lear
7、n more about myself. Each time I write what is in my head as honestly as I can, another piece of the identity puzzle is revealed. When a task is for a worthy cause (our family can enjoy the house more because I helped clean it), this message can have a
13、 big impact. This is how we help our kids develop a sense of responsibility. When our children develop this responsibility, theyll be more disciplined, and theyll control their emotions better. When we give rewards to our kids, we reduce the sense of responsibility. We also create children who may t
14、emporarily perform to a certain standard, but who arent likely to continue the performance without the carrot hanging in front of them. Rewards and punishment can change behaviour for a while, but they cannot change the person who engages in the behaviour, said Alfie Kohn, author of Punished by Rewa
15、rds. Good values have to be grown from the inside out. Parents can help give their children a sense of shared responsibility and discipline which can last a lifetime.
