3、egions,mostly by the Dutch and British.American colonists started whaling in the 1700s.Nantucket whalers were the first to kill a sperm whale,and the discovery of spermaceti in the whale's head made the sperm whale one of the most highly prized catches.Whaling ships set out from New England into
