Unit 10Im going to be a basketball player.Good afternoon, honorable judges and dear teachers and my friends, Im very glad to stand here and share my teaching ideas with you. Today my teaching topic is unit 10; Im going to be a basketball player Section A Grade 8. In my class, I divide my teaching plan into 6 parts, they are teaching material, students analysis, teaching methods and leaning strategies, teaching aids, teaching procedure and blackboard design. Now I will introduce my teaching plan one by one, please follow me into the first part, teaching material. I analyzed teaching material into 3 aspects, they are status and function; teaching objectives; teaching key points and difficulty.First is status and function. Go for It is a series of textbooks compiled for junior middle school students. The central idea of it is to challenge students to gain communicative competence in the study of the culture of this language. Each unit is divided into two parts, they are section a and section b. Section As aim is to make students master the basic language content, section B is the expansion and integrated use of knowledge. The next part-Teaching objectives. I divide the objectives into knowledge objectives, ability objectives and moral objectives. First, knowledge objectives. In this unit, students should try their best to master some new words, useful expressions and the key structure.Second, ability objectives. In the language learning process, these four skills are inseparable and mutual interactive; they all contribute to developing students language skill meanwhile focus will be laid on improving students communicative ability and their integrating skills.Next-moral objectives. The new curriculum standards require teachers to pay more attention to the moral development of students. In this unit, through talking about future intentions, enable the students to realize their dream jobs, and make the resolutions to achieve them.Lets move on to the next part: Teaching key points and difficulties. The key points of this unit are new words: computer, engineer, programmer and pilot, expressions are dream job, grow up, move to; structure is be going to do. These are the key points students should pay more attention to. As for the difficulty, students should learn to talk about their dream jobs and make the resolutions to achieve them.As we all know, student is the center of teaching activity, they play an important role in teaching procedure. So next is students analysis. Most of the junior middle school students are aged from 13 to 15. They are active, talkative and creative with strong abilities of memorizing, imitating and performing. So Ill provide them with real contexts, various tasks and challenging activities. The purpose is to motivate students learning enthusiasm and cooperative spirit.As far as Teaching methods and learning strategies are concerned, in this unit, Ill mainly use task-based teaching method; various tasks will be designed for the students to master appropriate functional patterns. Besides, I will use audio-visual, communicative and situational teaching method to raise students interest as well as present context vividly. For students, I will guide them to master the learning strategies gradually; prediction, cooperation, and comparison will be encouraged in my class. Now lets talk about teaching aids. In this unit, I will make use of multimedia to assist my class. For example, I will use some recordings, pictures, videos, objects and charts. This will help to create the language situation and enhance the communication between the teacher and students. Now lets come to the most important part of my teaching plan-Teaching procedure. It is made up of 5 parts. They are preparation, presentation, practice, production and homework. Well, during these parts, students comprehensive abilities are expected to be improved step by step.First: Preparation.At the beginning of the class, I will sing a song for the class, like this: and then, Ill tell them: “When I was a little girl, I said to myself: “I am going to be a singer”. But now, Im a teacher, and I like my job!” Then Ill ask them “What are you going to be when you grow up?” After that, Ill play one piece of video in order to let the students have a discussion on their dream jobs. Like thisBy showing them other students dream jobs, like professional basketball player, computer programmer, the new knowledge will be presented in an interesting way. Here I use audio-visual teaching method to help students think about their dream jobs; meanwhile itll arouse students interests to the new content of this class. Then, step two, Presentation. After the warming up, in this step, I will give students some examples about ones jobs, these pictures can show the new words perfectly, through the pictures they can have a better understanding of these words. Just like this one, Yao Ming is a famous basketball player. Then I will let them rank these jobs from the most interesting to the least interesting. After that, they have already known their favorite jobs; next students will do an activity like this: Ill tell them “What are you going to be when you grow up? Do you have a plan? Today I brought my dream box here! You can write down your dream jobs on the paper, and Ill put your papers in the dream box, itll help us remember our dreams. And I hope one day your dreams will come true!” By letting them choose different kinds of jobs, I can train students hobbies in a naturally way. Also, I can lead my students to the new topic of section A. What are you going to be when you grow up? And how are you going to do that? Here I use situational and audiovisual teaching methods to help students master the new words and introduce the key structure. Next is step 3, Practice. After presentation, students will have a general understanding of the new knowledge; next, Ill let them practice their reading, listening and speaking abilities gradually, so they will be more familiar with the new knowledge, also their language skills will be improved step by step. At first, Ill use a game to consolidate their learning of the new words. The games called magic cards. Ill invite some students to come in the front of the classroom, and then let them choose one card from these cards, and then they must follow the cards and do the action exactly. For example, if someone chooses no.8, so he or she must act like a dancer. In this way, I can help students to improve their speaking ability; meanwhile, it will arouse students interests and help them to be more confident.Second ReadingIll let students read these conversations carefully. Then Ill pick up three groups to read these conversations respectively. After their reading, Ill decide which group is the best from their pronunciation. In this way, I can let students practice the new knowledge and improve their autonomous reading ability.And then, listeningAfter reading the conversations, students can have the first impression about the new knowledge. Next Ill ask them to listen and match the items below. Then, Ill play a material about Cheng Han. For the first listening, students are expected to get the general idea about what is Cheng Han going to do; Ill let them check the correct boxes in the picture. For the second listening, by using “where, how and when”, students will fill in the chart with the details in this material, like this After these two items students can have a whole understanding about Cheng Hans story. So next, Ill ask some students to retell this story in their own words. In this way, I can see whether they have mastered the new knowledge or not. Here I use audio-visual teaching method to help students form good listening habit and practice their listening ability. After that, theyll have the speaking practice.Ill let students work in pairs and practice these conversations. Then Ill ask some students to act their conversations out. Here I use situational and communicative teaching method to practice students pronunciation and improve their speaking abilities. In the practice step, Ill use task-based teaching method; audio-visual teaching method and situational teaching method to help students practice their reading, listening and speaking abilities. Next is step 4, Production.In this step Ill design a task named super interview, so students will be divided into 4 groups, each group will choose one student to be the reporter, and he or she must do a research about their group members dream jobs. Then they will make a report to the class, like this, at last we will decide who the best is. The winner will get a professional reporter card as a reward. Finally, Ill end my class like this: ok class! Have you imagined you can walk in the space? Yangliwei, one of Chinese astronauts has done it. And also the most exciting thing in 2011 is that shenzhou 8 kissed tiangong 1successfully in the space. So I believe if you work harder, nothing is impossible, fly your dreams, you can be anyone you expect to be!In this step, through using the task-based and situational teaching methods, students speaking and cooperation abilities will be improved. Meanwhile, by guiding them to realize their dream jobs and help them to make the resolutions to achieve it, moral objective can be achieved.
