高中英語必修二Unit 2 The Olympic Games公開課教案Using language:Reading and Listening I. 教材分析This lesson is the fourth period of this unit, which is about the ancient Olympic Games. By studying of this unit, well enable the students to know something about the ancient Greek stories, which arouses students interest in western culture. Most importantly, it trains students reading and listening ability.II三維目標1Knowledge aims1) 1、Important words and expressionsa、glory, bargain, hopeless, foolish, pain, pick up ,one after anotherb、sentence structures Her father said that she must marry, so Atlanta made a bargain with him. She could run faster than any men in her country. He threw the golden apples one after another. No one will be pardoned. 2) Get Ss to learn about the ancient Greek literature. 3) Let Ss know more about the ancient Olympic Games.2Ability aims1) Develop the students reading skills by using different reading skills 2) Enable Ss to retell the story and act the text play.3Emotional aims 1) Stimulate Ss love of the ancient Greek literature and culture.2) Train the students ability to cooperate with others.IIITeaching important points1) Develop Ss reading skills by extensive reading. 2) Train the students reading and speaking ability.IVTeaching difficult point Enable Ss to learn to use different reading strategies such as skimming ,scanning and so on.IV. Ask students some questions to review what they have learned.T: In the first text, we have learned something about the Olympic Games, yes or no?S: Yes. T: Can you still remember where the ancient Olympic Games started? S: GreeceT: What do you call the people or the language of this country? S: GreekT: Greece is an ancient country full of stories; do you think so? S: Yes. As we all know, Greece is the world-known country with an ancient civilization, which has a long history with so much marvelous culture. The Greeks had wonderful stories about the Gods and Goddesses who were part of their religion. 2.Is there anybody who can tell us some Greek legends? You know they are so famous in human history. Or can you speak out some names of Greek Gods and Goddesses?Zeus The principal god of the Greek pantheon, ruler of the heavens, and father of other gods and mortal heroes.在羅馬神話中是朱庇特Jupiter。Hera The sister and wife of Zeus, the principal goddess of the羅馬神話中的朱諾Juno。Hades The god of the dead and the ruler of the underworld.羅馬神話中的普路托Pluto。Poseidon The god of the waters, earthquakes, and horses.波塞冬:掌管海洋、地震和馬匹的神。羅馬神話中的尼普頓Neptune。Athena The goddess of wisdom, the practical arts and warfare, the daughter of Metis.雅典娜:智慧女神,主管技藝和戰(zhàn)爭。墨提斯和宙斯的女兒。羅馬神話中的帕拉斯Pallas。Aphrodite The goddess of love and beauty, also called Cytherea.阿佛洛狄忒:愛與美的女神。羅馬神話中的維納斯Venus。Eros The god of love ,son of Aphrodite.厄洛斯:愛神,阿佛洛狄忒之子。相當于羅馬神話中的丘比特Cupid。Gods and Goddesses were part of the Greeks religion. They believed that Gods (or Goddesses) would help humans if they felt sorry for them or if the humans were good people. To try to get the support of the Gods, people had to pray for them and offer them presents. Purpose: To review some words related to the passage and stimulate Ss interest in fairy tales about the ancient Olympic Games.Next, we will learn a story which is related to it.Step 2. Reading 1. Skimming and listening Read the text quickly and find out the relationship among the four persons.King Princess Hippomenes GoddessPurpose: To get a brief understanding of the passage.2. Scanning Read the text again and then do the following true or false questions.(1) Atlanta could run faster than any man. ( )(2) At first Hippomenes understood why men ran against Atlanta. ( )(3) Atlanta was not confident she would win. ( )(4) She made as many men as she could share her pain. ( )(5) Her father did not refuse her wish to choose a husband in a race. But she was not allowed to run in the Olympic Games.(2) She promised to be married to a man who could run faster than her. If he could not run as fast as her, he would be killed.(3) Hippomenes could not understand why so many young men wanted to risk their lives.(4) Atlantas beauty made him understand his amazement and change his mind.(5) He turned to the Goddess of love for help.Purpose: To make Ss further understand the text.Step3 DiscussionAsk Ss to talk about the possible ending in groups of ix. After discussing, let every student write down the result they have got. And then ask some Ss to read out their results. Purpose: To make Ss have more chances to practice speaking and writing.VII.
