龜 兔 賽 跑 Once upon a time a tortoise and a hare had an argument about who was faster They decided to settle the argument with a race They agreed on a route and started off the race 從前有一只烏龜和一只兔子在互相爭辯誰跑得快他們決定來一場(chǎng)比賽分高下選定了路線就此起跑 The hare shot ahead and ran briskly for some time Then seeing that he was far ahead of the tortoise he thought hed sit under a tree for some time and relax before continuing the race 兔子帶頭沖出奔馳了一陣子眼看它已遙遙領(lǐng)先烏龜心想它可以在樹下坐一會(huì)兒放松一下然后再繼續(xù)比賽 He sat under the tree and soon fell asleep The tortoise plodding on overtook him and soon finished the race emerging as the undisputed champ 兔子很快地在樹下就睡著了而一路上笨手笨腳走來的烏龜則超越過它不一會(huì)兒完成比賽 成為貨真價(jià)實(shí)的冠軍 The hare woke up and realised that hed lost the race The moral of the story is that slow and steady wins the race 等兔子一覺醒來才發(fā)覺它輸了這個(gè)故事給我們的啟示是緩慢且持續(xù)的人會(huì)贏得比賽 This is the version of the story that weve all grown up with 這是從小伴隨我們長大的龜兔賽跑故事的版本 But then recently someone told me a more interesting version of this story It continues 但最近有人告訴了我一個(gè)更有趣的版本故事這麼連續(xù)下去 The hare was disappointed at losing the race and he did some Defect Prevention Root Cause Analysis He realised that hed lost the race only because he had been overconfident careless and lax 兔子當(dāng)然因輸了比賽而倍感失望為此他做了些缺失預(yù)防工作根本原因解析它很清楚失敗是因它太有信心大意以及散漫 If he had not taken things for granted theres no way the tortoise could have beaten him So he challenged the tortoise to another race The tortoise agreed 如果它不要自認(rèn)一切都是理所當(dāng)然的烏龜是不可能打敗它的因此它單挑烏龜再來另一場(chǎng)比賽而烏龜也同意 This time the hare went all out and ran without stopping from start to finish He won by several miles 這次兔子全力以赴從頭到尾一口氣跑完領(lǐng)先烏龜好幾公里 The moral of the story Fast and consistent will always beat the slow and steady 這故事的有什麼啟示動(dòng)作快且前后一致的人將可勝過緩慢且持續(xù)的人 If you have two people in your organisation one slow methodical and reliable and the other fast and still reliable at what he does the fast and reliable chap will consistently climb the organisational ladder faster than the slow methodical chap 如果在你的工作單位有兩個(gè)人一個(gè)緩慢按部就班且可靠另一個(gè)則是動(dòng)作快且辦事還算牢靠那麼動(dòng)作快且牢靠的人會(huì)在組織中一直往上爬升遷的速度比那緩慢且按部就班辦事的人快 Its good to be slow and steady but its better to be fast and reliable 緩慢且持續(xù)固然很好但動(dòng)作快且牢靠則更勝一籌 But the story doesnt end here The tortoise did some thinking this time and realised that theres no way he can beat the hare in a race the way it was currently formatted 這故事還沒完沒了這下輪到烏龜要好好檢討它很清楚照目前的比賽方法它不可能擊敗兔子 He thought for a while and then challenged the hare to another race but on a slightly different route 它想了一會(huì)兒然后單挑兔子再來另一場(chǎng)比賽但是是在另一條稍許不同的路線上 The hare agreed They started off In keeping with his self-made commitment to be consistently fast the hare took off and ran at top speed until he came to a broad river 兔子同意然后兩者同時(shí)出發(fā)為了確保自己立下的承諾從頭到尾要一直快速前進(jìn)兔子飛馳而出極速奔跑直到碰到一條寬闊的河流 The finishing line was a couple of kilometers on the other side of the river 而比賽的終點(diǎn)就在幾公里外的河對(duì)面 The hare sat there wondering what to do In the meantime the tortoise trundled along got into the river swam to the opposite bank continued walking and finished the race 兔子呆坐在那里一時(shí)不知怎麼辦這時(shí)候?yàn)觚攨s一路跚跚而來撩入河里游到對(duì)岸繼續(xù)爬行完成比賽 The moral of the story First identify your core competency and then change the playing field to suit your core competency 這故事的有什麼啟示首先辨識(shí)出你的核心競(jìng)爭力然后改變游戲場(chǎng)所以適應(yīng)發(fā)揮你的核心競(jìng)爭力 In an organisation if you are a good speaker make sure you create opportunities to give presentations that enable the senior management to notice you 在你的工作單位如果你是一個(gè)能言善道的人一定要想法創(chuàng)造機(jī)會(huì)好好表現(xiàn)自己以便讓層峰注意到你 If your strength is analysis make sure you do some sort of research make a report and send it upstairs Working to your strengths will not only get you noticed but will also create opportunities for growth and advancement 如果你的優(yōu)勢(shì)是從事分析工作那麼你一定要做一些研究寫一個(gè)報(bào)告然后呈送上樓依著自己的優(yōu)勢(shì) 專長 來工作不僅會(huì)讓上頭的人注意到你也會(huì)創(chuàng)造成長和進(jìn)步的機(jī)會(huì) The story still hasnt ended 故
