Unit 4 What would you do?吉林省公主嶺市大榆樹中學(xué) 邢建華一、教學(xué)內(nèi)容分析:本單元以What would you do為話題,共設(shè)計了四個部分的內(nèi)容:(一)、Section A 該部分有4個模塊:1第一模塊圍繞What would you do if you had a lot of money?這一話題展開思維( 1a)、聽力(1b)、口語( 1c)訓(xùn)練;2第二模塊圍繞Embarrassing situations(worries/problems) 進(jìn)行聽力( 2a-2b)、口語訓(xùn)練( 2c);3第三模塊繼續(xù)就上一模塊中的Embarrassing situations這一話題展開訓(xùn)練,訓(xùn)練形式為閱讀配對( 3a)和角色表演(3b);4第四模塊仍就Embarrassing situations以小組活動形式展開討論。(二)、Section B該部分有4個模塊:1第一模塊是詞匯的學(xué)習(xí)( 1a)與運用(1b);2第二模塊圍繞A personality survey繼續(xù)對What would you do if/I would進(jìn)行聽力( 2a-2b)、口語訓(xùn)練( 2c);3第三模塊繼續(xù)圍繞A personality survey 這一話題展開閱讀( 3a)和寫作(3b)訓(xùn)練;4第四模塊仍就A personality survey這一話題以口語訓(xùn)練形式展開小組活動。(三)、Self Check該部分有2個模塊:1第一模塊以填空形式對所學(xué)詞匯進(jìn)行訓(xùn)練;2第二模塊就一封E-mail展開閱讀和寫作訓(xùn)練。(四)、Reading該部分共設(shè)置了5項任務(wù):第一項任務(wù)以問題討論的方式激活學(xué)生相關(guān)背景知識;第二項任務(wù)要求學(xué)生通過快速閱讀獲取信息;第三項任務(wù)利用討論、寫作等練習(xí)形式加深學(xué)生對閱讀內(nèi)容的理解;第四項任務(wù)要求學(xué)生能運用所學(xué)知識解決實際問題;第五項任務(wù)要求學(xué)生運用所學(xué)知識開展實踐活動(做一次調(diào)查)。二、教學(xué)目標(biāo)1、語言目標(biāo)Talking about imaginary situations .(談?wù)撎摌?gòu)情景)2、知識目標(biāo) 表示現(xiàn)在及將來情況的虛擬條件句所引起的虛擬語氣的用法與結(jié)構(gòu)。3、能力目標(biāo)根據(jù)本單元所學(xué)知識,讓學(xué)生能對與現(xiàn)在事實,過去事實及將來事實相反的事用虛擬條件句表達(dá)。三、 重點知識1、重點單詞:Medical research tie worry energetic confident permission herself bother annoy fairly plenty listener knowledgable rest shelf cover deep correct burn knee hurt offer refuse helpful 基本要求 會讀 會寫 會用2、 重點短語:What if ., notin the slightest ,plenty of , get along with., letdown, come up with , come out , rather than , hidefrom , take a long walk , ask ones permission , right away .基本要求 會讀 會寫 會用3、重點語法:1)、Grammar : 條件狀語從句2)、if 引導(dǎo)的非真實性條件狀語從句 即基本要求 理解其含義,會用虛擬條件句表達(dá)不能實現(xiàn)的愿望、假設(shè)、懷疑、建議、猜測、可能或純粹的空想。四、課時劃分: 第一課時:Section A: 1a-Grmmar Focus 第二課時:Section A: 3a-4 第三課時:Section B: 1a-2c 第四課時:Section B: 3a-4 第五課時: Self chelf 第六課時:ReadingPeriod 1教學(xué)目標(biāo):學(xué)習(xí)運用虛擬語氣表達(dá)虛擬的情境,掌握虛擬條件句的基本結(jié)構(gòu)。語言目標(biāo):1.生詞和短語: million, medical, research2.重點句子:What would you do if you had a lot of money?能力目標(biāo):Enable the students to understand and talk about imaginary situations.教學(xué)重點: Talk about imaginary situations, worries/problems.教學(xué)過程:Step 1 Revision and Lead-inDuty ReportPlay a game.(練習(xí)由if引導(dǎo)的條件狀語從句。)T: What a fine day, isnt it? If its fine tomorrow, what will you do?S1: we will go to the park.S2: I will go to the park with my cousin.T: Then if there were no classes this afternoon,what would you do?Tell students that there are classes this afternoon in fact .Let Ss know why we use “were” and “would”. Help Ss answer with “I would doif there were no classes this afternoon”.S3: I would play basketball with my friends if there were no classes this afternoon.T: After school Jim played basketball with his friends .He went back home very late and his mother was very angry. If you were him, what would you do ? Can you give him some advice?S4: If I were him , I would say sorry to mother.S5: If I were him, I would try to do something to make mother happy.T: There will be an English test. Jim worries about it . What should he do?S6: If I were him , I would study harder. Step 2: PracticeT: Bill Gates is a very rich man in the world . He has given a lot of his money to charity. If you had so much money, what would you do?Get Ss to think it over and write down their answers(Section A 1a)T: When we talk about things that havent happened, we can use the words I would or Id. Now look at the picture on Page 26. What can you see in the picture?S: We can see some people, a school, a zoo, a research lab, a bank.T: What are the people in the lower part of the picture doing?S1: Maybe they are thinking about the answers to the question shown in the picture. S2: The woman is reading a newspaper and they are all thinking of the answers to the question. T: Pretend you are the people in the picture, what would you do if you had a million dollars?S3: Id buy a beautiful car.S4: Id build a research lab. S5: Id give it to the Hope Project.S6: Id travel around the world.S7: Id give it to medical research. Ask for more ideas from the students. Write their ideas on the blackboard. buy a beautiful car, travel around the world, give it to the Hope Project, build a school for the poor children, build a library for our school, build a research labShow the following to the students and then ask them to practice in pairs. -What would you do if you had a million dollars?-I would (Id) _. T: Now work in pairs and make dialogues. Sample dialogues:1. What would you do if you saw someone stealing something? Id call the police.2. What would you do if you lost your bike? Id buy a new one.3. What would you do if you saw a girl crying in the street. Id help her find her mother. 4. What would you do if the teacher asked you to sing a song to the class? Id say yes. Step 3 Listing and SpeakingLet Ss listen to the tape and number the picture.(Section A 1b)Then get Ss to practice the conversation.Ss practice the conversation, they communicate with each other often .Everyone has a chance to speak English.Make a survey, then give a reportAsk your classmates: What would you do if you had a million dollars?Write down their answers then give us a reportStep 4: Listening and practicingT :If I had much money, Id buy many presents for each of my friends. Larry is going to his friend,Toms birthday party . But hes a little nervous. Why?Can you guess?S1: Perhaps he is late.S2: He doesnt have enough money to buy a presentT: Maybe you are right.Im not sure .Lets listen to the tape.Get Ss to listen to the tape and circle the reasons(Section A 2a)Get Ss to listen to the tape again and check the advice Larrys sister says to him. Let Ss read the conversation after the tape. Then let Ss do pairwork.S1: Hi, Harry . You look worried.S2; Im going to Toms party .But I dont know what to wear.S1: If I were you, I would wear a shirt and a tie.S2; I dont have a present. What if everyone else brings a present?Step 5: Discussion Get Ss to choose one of the following situations or make up another imaginary situation , have a discussion in groups and write down their advice,then give a report.Eg: A: Im going to CCTV,I dont know what to wear.B: If I were you, I d wear a dress.Step 6 :SummaryStep 7: HomeworkWrite a passage “If I were a teacher/headmaster”At last ,let me talk about my blackboard design. (事實上我現(xiàn)在沒有時間,不能去散步) If I were invited, I would go to the dinner.(事實上沒有人邀請我,我也不能去參加宴會) If I had a million dollars, I would put it in the bank.(事實上我沒有一百萬美圓,也不可能存在銀行) Period 2教學(xué)目標(biāo):能運用所掌握的語法、句型和詞匯比較流利地表達(dá)自己的一些煩惱和困惑并且能針對他人的問題給出可行的建議。教學(xué)重點: Talk about problems /worries.教學(xué)過程:Step 1 Revision and Lead-in選擇上節(jié)課留的作業(yè)中的一些,在班上讓學(xué)生讀給大家聽,并且征詢不同的答案。Step 2 Practice 1針對 3a的某個問題,讓學(xué)生談?wù)勛约翰煌囊娊夂头椒ā?讓學(xué)生分組活動,用準(zhǔn)備好的一些問題分發(fā)給每個小組,讓他們集體討論解決方法。例:A. I like talking with drivers or passengers when I take a bus or taxi. I never feel tired during my study.Step 4 Free TalkDo you know yourself very well? What kind of personality do you have? Read the instructions, check the questions Celia asks. Then ask the students to listen for the first time and find out the questions. And play the recording again, circle the letter of the correct answer to each question.Step 3 ReadingAsk the students to read the paragraphs by themselves. Read the questions and answers on the survey in 2a. Then fill in each blank in the result with “ a, b, c” that describe different types of persons. Fill in the blanks with words in part 1 in Self Check. The keys:15 tired, nervous, friendly, terrible, shyStep 2 ReadingAsk the students to read the e-mail.For e-mail writing, we must pay attention to the following:1. Keep your message short.2. Keep your message simple. 3. Give your main idea using a few sentences so people can understand you immediately.4. Dont type all in capital letters.Step 3 Writing Ask the students to write a reply as required on page 31.Then ask some of them to read their works to the class.One sample version: Subject: Reply From: Knowledgeable Dear Fran, Shyness is extremely common, especially among teens. As shy people, most of us are worrying about ourselvesabout how we look, what we say and whether other people will like usto stop to think about what we can do for other people.But really, thats what being social is aboutthe other person, not us. So you can tell her two ways to overcome shyness. First, tell her that she should let people know that she is shy in case she is misunderstood. Second, tell her that it is better to make things easy for the other person. Tell her to remember that she is the best person for the job; she can practise in various ways. And tell the rest of the students that you should all help and encourage her to overcome shyness.
