TextbookAnalysis:

ThiscourseispartoftheOptionalpulsoryVolume4oftheForeignStudyEdition(2019)andisthesixthunitofthevolume.ThetextmainlyfocusesonChina'sculturaltradition,modernizationprocessandinternationalinfluence,anduseshighlydifficultvocabularyandsentencepatternsthroughoutthetext,reflectingtheexchangeandcollisionbetweenChineseandWesterncultures.

Objective:Throughthislesson,studentsshouldbeabletomasterthefollowingaspectsofknowledgeandskills:

1.UnderstandChina'straditionalcultureandmodernizationprocess;

2.Masterthekeywordsandexpressionsinthetext;

3.AbletodescribetheculturalcharacteristicsandmodernimagesofChina;

4.Cultivatestudents'interculturalmunicationabilityandcriticalthinking.

Teachingfocus:keywordsandexpressionsinthetext,Chinesetraditionalcultureandmodernizationprocess.

Teachingdifficulties:Students'understandingofChinesecultureanddescriptionofmodernChineseimages.

Analysisoflearningsituation:StudentsareseniortwostudentswithagoodEnglishfoundation,buttheirunderstandingofChinesecultureislimited,usuallylimitedtosomerelevantknowledgeoftraditionalculture.Therefore,itisnecessarytohelpstudentsformanopeninternationaloutlookandcrossculturalmunicationabilitythroughthestudyofthislesson.

Teachingstrategy:Interactiveteachingmethodssuchasmultimediadisplay,groupdiscussionandcooperativelearningareadoptedtostimulatestudents'learninginterestandparticipation.

Teachingmethods:Basedontaskbasedteaching,onthebasisofindependentlearning,studentsareguidedtocarryoutthemedisplay,roleplayandmunicationanddiscussion,soastocultivatestudents'prehensivelanguageapplicationability.

1.Groupactivities:StudentswillbedividedintogroupstodiscusstheinfluenceofChina'sculture,economy,scienceandtechnology.

Teachingactivities:Eachgroupselectedanaspect,collectedinformationanddiscussedit,andmadeaposterorPPTtoshowtheinfluenceofChinaonthisaspect.Studentscandiscusswitheachother,gatherinformation,shareideas,andpresenttheminclass.

2.Shareanddiscuss:Eachgrouppresentsitsownresults,andmentsandquestionsonothergroups'presentations.

Teachingactivities:EachgroupsentrepresentativestopresenttheirpostersorPPT,andtheothergroupslistenedandaskedquestions.Studentscansharetheirownresearchresults,opinionsandfeelings,andpromotethecollisionofideasandindepthinquirythroughmutualmentsandquestions.

Theteachingthemeofthislessonis"GlobalWitnessChina".Inthislesson,IintroduceChina'slonghistoryandrichculture,sothatstudentscanunderstandthesituationofChina'sopeningtotheoutsideworldandthereasonswhyforeignersetoChinatolearnChineselanguageandChineseculture.

Intheprocessofteaching,IfoundthatthestudentswereveryinterestedinChinesecultureandfullofenthusiasmforlearningChinese.TheyarecuriousabouttraditionalChineseculture,teacultureandmartialarts.Therefore,Ihaveincludedsomepictures,videosandinteractiveactivitiesintheclasstomakestudentsunderstandandexperienceChineseculturemorevividly.

However,Ialsometsomeproblemsinteaching.Firstofall,duetotimeconstraints,IdidnothaveenoughtimetoexplainthedetailsofChinesecultureindepth,whichmadeitrelativelyeasyforstudentstounderstand.Secondly,duetotheunevenEnglishlevelofthestudents,somewordsandsentencesweredifficultforthem,andIdidnotgivethemenoughhelpandexplanation.Finally,myteachingmethodreliestoomuchonbooksandlackssufficientmultimediaresourcesandinteractiveactivities,resultinginstudents'lowinterestandparticipationinlearning.

Inordertoimprovetheteaching,Iplantoaddmoreinteractiveactivitiesinthenextteaching,suchasshowingobjectsorpictures,sothatstudentscanhaveamoreintuitiveunderstandingofChineseculture.
