landwasburntand82peoplekilled.Eventoday,itisconsideredoneofEurope’smostdeadlyforestfires.RevisionTheWorstDisastersThewinterof1950to1951cametobeknownastheWinterofTerorwhenover600avalanchesstrucktownsandvillagesinthemountainsoftheSwiss-AustrianAlps.Causedbyexceptionallyheavysnowfallwithinashortperiodoftime,theydestroyedbuildingsandforests,andclaimedover256lives.RevisionTheWorstDisastersIn1960,Chilesufferedthestrongestearthquakeeverrecordedinthe20thcentury.Theshockisgenerallyagreedtohavehadamagnitudeof9.5.Itcausedtsunamiwithwavesofupto25metresaffectingplacesasfarawayasHawaiiandJapan.

RevisionTheWorstDisastersAblizzardhitIraninFebruary1972,causingaweekofextremelylowtemperatures.Winterstormsbroughtasmuchas7.9metresofsnowinthesouthofthecountry,resultinginthedeathsofabout4,000people.RevisionTheWorstDisastersInJuly2011,adroughtstruckEastAfrica.Itwassaidtobetheworstin60years,andnotasingledropofrainfellforalmostawholeyear.Itledtoaseverefoodcrisisandthreatenedthelivelihoodsofmorethan9.5millionpeople.Watchavideoandthinkaboutwhathappenedtoanonce-prosperousancientcity.Warming
