SirArthurConanDoyle(1859-1930)wasaScottishwriter,whosebest-knownfictionalcharacteristheprivatedetectiveSherlockHolmes.Thedetectivehasthehabitofpayingattentiontothesmallestandseeminglyinsignificantdetails,whichinevitablyleadstohimsolvingmanymysteriouscrimes.“TheRed-HeadedLeague”narratedbyHolmes’sfriend,DrWatson,tellsthetaleofamanwithredhairwhojoinsaclubforred-headedmenandthusunknowinglyhelpsacrimetakeplace.

“那你怎么知道他們要在今晚動手呢?”我問道。
