ThecharactersThestepmother:

Whenthereisnotenoughfoodormoneyforthewholefamilytosurvive,thestepmotherinthisstoryorderstheirfathertotakethechildrentothedepthsoftheforestandleavethem.Whenthefatherresists,shemocks嘲笑,戲弄himandconvinceshimthatbykeepingthechildrenallfourwouldsoon'perish.Herpersonalityofthestepmotherisclearlyobservable.
