But only a different review appeared in Nature, a respected science magazine with specific r

China, for example, has set its mind on leading that market, hoping to seize chances in the new round of the global energy resolution. It is now trying hard to made full use of wind and solar energy, and

Outside, Father and Mr. Patrick next door were busy chopping firewood. Inside their own houses, Mother and Mrs.

We could hardly distinguish the orange-colored spots of the kites. Now and then we slowly pulled one kite back, watching it dancing up and

Our mothers took their turn, laughing like schoolgirls. I think we were all beside ourselves. Parents forgot their duty and their dignity; children fo

41、told my little girl. “Youre right, its too good a day to miss.”Another decade passed. We were in the aftermath(余波) of a great war. All evening we had been asking our returned soldier, the youngest Patrick Boy, about his experiences as a prisoner of war. He had talked freely, but now for a long time

42、he had been silent. What was he thinking of - what dark and horrible things?“Say!” A smile sipped out from his lips. “Do you remember - no, of course you wouldnt. 47、er the war【解析】56. 答案C。細節(jié)分析題。找到文中出現(xiàn)laughing guilty 的上下文,原本大人們都在熱火朝天地spring clean,Mrs Patrick,“Come on, girls! Lets take sting to the boys and watch them fly the kites a minute.” On the way we met Mrs. Patrick, Iaughing guiltily as if she were doing something wrong, together with her girls.大人和小孩一起放風箏,

48、把家務放在一邊,所以感到很罪過。57. 答案B。解答此題聯(lián)系后文,parents forgot their duty and their dignity; children forgot their everyday fights and little jealousies,可以看出大人小孩放風箏的時候都很high, 幾近瘋狂。58. 但是我們看第七段,“The strange thing was, we didnt mention that day

49、afterward I felt a little embarrassed .Surely none of the of the others had been as excited as I.” 作者認為,只有他一個人還記得當初那個放風箏的美好時刻,而其他人都忘記了,所以選D。59. 60. 答案A。

According to the US government, wind farms off the Pacific coast could produce 900 gig watts of electricity every year. Unfortunately, the water there is far too deep for even the tallest windmills(see picture)to

51、 touch bottom. An experiment under way off the coast of Norway, however, could help put them anywhere. The project, called Hywind, is the worlds first large-scale deepwater wind turbine(渦輪發(fā)電機).Although it uses a fairly standard 152-ton,2.3-megawatt turbine, Hywind represents totally new technology. 52、he turbine will be fixed 213 feet above the water on a floating spar(see picture),a technology Hywinds creator, the Norwegian company StatoilHydro, has developed recently. The steel spar, which is filled with stones and goes 328 feet below the sea surface, will be tied to the ocean floor by three ca

Hywinds stability(穩(wěn)定性)in the cold and rough sea would prove that even the deepest corners of the ocean are suitable for wind power. If all goes according to plan, the turbine will start producing el

54、ectricity six miles off the coast of southwestern Norway as early as September. To produce electricity on a large scale, a commercial wind farm will have to use bigger turbines than Hywind does, but its difficult enough to balance such a large turbine so high on a floating spar in the middle of the o

To make that turbine heavier, the whole spars to design a new kind of wind turbine, one whose gearbox(變速箱) sits at sea level rather than behind the blades (see picture )Hywind is a test run, but the benefits for perfecting floating wind-farm technology could be extremely large. Out at sea, the

56、 wind is often stronger and steadier than close to shore, where all existing offshore windmills are planted. Deep-sea farms are invisible from land, which helps overcome the windmill-as-eyesore objection. If the technology catches on, it will open up vast areas of the planets surface to one of the b

The Hywind project uses totally new technology to ensure the stability of _.A. the cables which tie the spar to the ocean floorB. the spar which is floating in deep-sea waterC. the blades driven by strong and steady sea windD. the stones filled in the spar

58、below the sea surface64. To balance a bigger turbine high on a flatting spar, a new type of turbine is to be designed with its gearbox sitting _.A. on the sea floor B. on the spar topC. at sea level D. behind the blades65. Wide applications of deepwater wind power technology can _.A. solve the technical problems of deepwater windmillsB. make financial profits by producing more turbinesC. settle the arguments about environmental problemsD. explo
