3、ealized I could get it bylistening for just the key words.My pronunciation alsoimproved by listening to the interesting conversations in English movies. I discovered that listening to somethinginterestingis the secret to languagelearning . I also learned useful sentences like “ It s a piece of cake

4、” or “It serves you right. ” I didn tunderstand these sentences at first. But because I wanted to understand the story, I looked up the words in a dictionary. NowI really enjoy my English class. I want to learn new words and more grammar. Then I can have a better understanding of English movies.Unit

14、l InventionDid you know that tea,the most popular drink in the world (after water),wasinvented by accident?Manypeople believe that tea was first drunk about 5,000 years ago. It is said that a Chinese ruler called Shen Nong first discovered tea as a drink. One day Shen Nong was boiling drinkingwater

15、over an open fire. Someleaves from a tea plantfellinto the water and remained there for sometime . It produced a nice smell so hewere used . It is believed that teatasted the brown water anyway. 16、rs later , Lu Yu, “the saint of tea ”, mentioned Shen Nong in his book Cha Jing. The book describes how tea plants were grown and used to make tea. It also discusses where the fines t tea leaves were produced and what kinds of waterwas brought to Korea and Japan during the 6th and 7 th centuries . I

17、n England, tea didn t appear until around 1660, but less than 100 years later, it had become the national drink. The tea trade from China to Wester n countries took place in the 19th century. This helped to spread the popularity of tea and the tea plant to more places around the world. Even though m

23、ou Feel Like Watching Today?While some people only stick to one kind of movie, I like to watch differen t kinds depending on how I feel that day.When Im down or tired , I prefer movies that can cheer me up.Comedies likeMen in Black or cartoons like Kungfu Panda havefunny dialogues and usually havea

24、happy ending . The characters may not be perfect, but they try their best to solve their problems. Afterwatching them, the problems I have suddenly seemlessserious and I feel muchbetter again. Laughing for two hours is a good way to relax !I don t watch dramas or documentaries when I m sad or tired.

25、 Dramas like Titanic make me feel even sadder. Documentaries like March of the Penguins which provide plenty of information about a certain subject can be interesting , but when I m tired I don t want to think toomuch. I don t mind action movies likeSpider- Man when Im too tired to think. I can just

26、 shut off my brain, sit back and enjoy watching an exciting superhero who always saves the world just in time.Once in a while, I like to watch movies that are scary , They can be fun,but I m too scare to watch them alone . I always bring a friend who isn t afraid ofthese kinds of movies, and it does

27、nt feel so scary anymore.Unit10 You re supposed to shake hands.Where I m from, we re pretty relaxed about time. We don t like to rush around, so we dont mind if people are a little late sometimes. If you tell a friend youre going to their house for dinner, it s OKif you arrive a bit late. Welike to

28、enjoy our time slowly . We value the time we spend with our family and friends in our everyday lives . Weoften just drop by our friends homesif wehave time. 30、. If youre even 15 minutes late, your friend may get mad. So I make an effort to be on time when I meet my friends. I always leave the house early to avoid heavy traffic. I dont mind because I think itsimpolite to keep others waiting . Also, we never visit a friend s house without calling first. We
