Unit 3 A Healthy Life教材分析I教學(xué)內(nèi)容分析:本單元的中心話題為“健康生活”。聽說讀寫等各活動主要圍繞如何健身、怎樣成為健康的人展開,其中涉及許多社會熱點問題,如抽煙,吸毒,艾滋病學(xué)習(xí)與工作壓力等影響健康的棘手問題。本單元引導(dǎo)學(xué)生討論這些問題,目的在于讓他們遠(yuǎn)離有損身體健康的活動,并養(yǎng)成良好的生活習(xí)慣。Warming up 部分主要圍繞健康問題和真正健康的人展開討論。并提供了以下有關(guān)健康的話題:抽煙、喝酒、吸毒、飲食、健美、性健康、壓力。同時,為了啟發(fā)學(xué)生聯(lián)想現(xiàn)實中的健康話題,附了六幅圖片,供學(xué)生討論、思考。Pre-reading 部分提供了四個討論題,主要讓學(xué)生明白“抽煙有害于健康”這一道理。在我們周圍有許多人抽煙,學(xué)生經(jīng)常會聽到抽煙的人談?wù)摮闊?。故此,?lián)系實際,讓學(xué)生討論:為什么有些人要抽煙?抽煙有哪些危害?等等問題,并讓學(xué)生討論身邊的人和事。雖然學(xué)生沒有抽煙的切身體會,但其周圍不乏許多戒煙成功的例子,讓學(xué)生體會交流一下,會有現(xiàn)實的作用,即學(xué)生或許會說服家人或親戚把煙戒掉。教師還可以向?qū)W生介紹一些提供戒煙幫助的組織等方面的信息。Reading 部分是爺爺寫給孫子的一封信,共分兩部分,第一部分主要是爺爺向?qū)O子介紹他能長壽和充滿活力的主要原因在于他健康的生活方式。而且還以親身體會向?qū)O子介紹了他年輕時吸煙上癮的原因、抽煙的危害和戒煙的方法,依此告誡孫子把煙戒掉。并說明吸煙上癮的三個原因:1. 尼古丁的藥物作用;2. 習(xí)慣的驅(qū)動力量;3. 精神上的依賴性. 還有吸煙的危害:1. 傷害心臟和肺;2. 不孕;3. 影響身邊不吸煙的人的健康;4. 味道難聞;5. 手指發(fā)黃;6.跑步速度慢;7. 不喜歡運動。第二部分提供了六種戒煙的方法:1. 制定計劃;2. 下定決心;3. 破除舊習(xí);4. 學(xué)習(xí)自我放松;5. 必要時請求幫助;6. 堅持不懈。Comprehending 部分幫助學(xué)生對課文細(xì)節(jié)的進(jìn)一步理解。共提供了三個練習(xí)題。練習(xí)1是表格填空,主要檢查學(xué)生對課文內(nèi)容的理解。練習(xí)2為討論題,主要讓學(xué)生對“爺爺”和“爺爺”的信作一評價,討論“爺爺”是個什么樣的人,學(xué)生可以用到文中的determined等形容詞,也可以運用以前學(xué)過的評價人物的詞語。練習(xí)3要求學(xué)生寫一個勸告他人戒煙的提綱,不要超過五個句子。Learning about language 的詞匯部分設(shè)置了三項練習(xí)。練習(xí)1是詞語替換練習(xí),練習(xí)2是短文填空,幫助理解和運用課文中所學(xué)的生詞。短文與課文內(nèi)容相近,有助于課文的復(fù)習(xí),同時又提供了學(xué)詞匯的語境。練習(xí)3為詞匯游戲,語法部分先通過到課文中找含有it的句子,讓學(xué)生認(rèn)識it的用法;然后簡單介紹it 的兩個用法。Using language 部分綜合訓(xùn)練學(xué)生聽說讀寫的能力。包括一篇閱讀文章,聽力,會話和寫作。閱讀文章主要是介紹艾滋病毒和艾滋病的海報。聽和說部分設(shè)置了三項練習(xí)。練習(xí)1要求學(xué)生選出薩拉擔(dān)憂的問題。練習(xí)2通過聽寫蒂娜的話,復(fù)習(xí)提建議的交際用語,練習(xí)3以參加聚會為情境,讓學(xué)生列舉做與不該做的事情,旨在操練本單元的交際用語。寫的部分要求學(xué)生給想拒絕吸煙卻遇到困難的李曉雷寫封信,幫助他想想辦法。Summing up 部分要求學(xué)生就吸煙、艾滋病等話題、詞語和結(jié)構(gòu)三個方面進(jìn)行自我評價,判定學(xué)習(xí)情況。Learning tip 部分介紹兩種類型的問題:封閉式問題和開放型問題。兩種類型的問題對于學(xué)生發(fā)展思維能力和訓(xùn)練英語能力都很重要。對于開放型問題沒有統(tǒng)一的答案,只要經(jīng)過深思熟慮就可以了;開放型問題有助于培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的發(fā)散性思維。II教學(xué)重點和難點1. 教學(xué)的重點(1) 本單元的生詞及重要短語。(2) it在句中做的各種成分,主要是形式主語,及表示“時間”、“距離”、“天氣”等(3) 關(guān)注健康問題,認(rèn)識到吸煙、吸毒的危害性,了解HIV/AIDS及其預(yù)防知識,樹立對待HIV/AIDS病人的正確態(tài)度。2. 教學(xué)的難點(1) 了解各種危害人類健康的疾病,及其預(yù)防措施。(2) 學(xué)會表達(dá)警告、禁止和允許的日常交際用語。(3) 學(xué)習(xí)寫勸告信。III教學(xué)計劃本單元分六課時:第一課時:Warming up; Pre-reading & Reading第二課時:Learning about Language(1), Using words and expressions (Workbook), Speaking task (Workbook)第三課時:Reading Task第四課時:Learning about Language (2), Using Structures (Workbook)第五課時:Listening and speaking第六課時:WritingIV教學(xué)步驟:Period 1 Warming Up, Pre-reading & ReadingTeaching Goals: 1. To make Ss know what a truly healthy life is.2. To arouse Ss to pay more attention to the healthy issues and realize the danger of smoking and drugs.3. Learn some new words and expressions.Teaching Procedures:Step 1. Warming UpPurpose: To activate Ss and arouse them to talk about some healthy issues in our daily life.1. Show the following two pictures to Ss. Ask Ss what they are doing and whether smoking or drinking is good for health? 2. Pair workAsk some Ss to answer the questions:(1) What health issues do you think concern young people the most nowadays? (2) What is a truly healthy person?Lead Ss to understand that a truly healthy person must be well in both body and mind. 3. Group work Ask Ss to look at the pictures above and discuss which depicts a healthy activity and which depicts an unhealthy one. Pre-readingPurpose: To make Ss realize the harm of smoking and avoid smoking. 1. Group workAsk Ss to discuss the following questions in groups(1) Have you ever smoked? If you have, have you ever tried to stop?(2) Why do you think some adolescents start smoking?(3) In what ways is smoking harmful? Do you think smoking should be banned?(4) Where could you get good advice on stopping smoking?2. DiscussionAsk some Ss to give their own opinions about how to stop smoking. Discuss and choose whose opinion is the best.For you reference: Set a date and time to stop, and stick to it. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about whether any of the proven drug treatments might suit you. Find out if there is a stop-smoking clinic near you. Enlist the help of your friends and family. Avoid the situations in which you used to reach for a cigarette. If you need to, ease the withdrawal symptoms with nicotine patches or gum.Conclusion: Smoking is very harmful to our health, when you are smoking, you are risking in heart disease, long cancer and asthma, and it can also cause dull skin and wrinkles. Besides, it can bring harm to the people around you. In the text of this unit, we will learn more about this. Step 3. Reading 1. SkimmingPurpose: To get a brief understanding of the text.(1) Individual workAsk Ss to skim the whole text and find out how many parts the text includes, and what each part is mainly about. Suggested Answers: The reading is in two parts. The first part is a letter from a grandfather to his grandson explaining how a smoker becomes addicted to cigarettes and why he should give up. The second part gives advice about how to stop smoking. It is set out like a page on the Internet.(2) Pair workAsk Ss to read the letter with a partner, each reading half the letter. Ask Ss to understand the meaning of the letter together. (3) Group workAsk Ss how the two passages are related (James grandfather attached the internet page to his letter.)(4) Individual workAsk Ss to read the second passage very quickly and answer the following questions: Why does each paragraph start with a short, highlighted sentence? How are the pictures at the bottom connected with the text? Why do you think the authors of the website included them? Why do you think the authors used a question as the main heading?(5) ScanningPurpose: To get Ss to have some details in the text. Pair work: Read the text quickly and try to get some details from the text. Work in pairs and try to ask and answer questions from the text. Questions can be like these.A. What kind of person do you think James grandfather is?B. What other information could have been included?C. What do you think can be done to protect non-smokers (especially women and babies) from those who smoke?Suggested Answers:A. He is fit and healthy and leads an active life.
