Teaching Plan for Unit3 Weather Part B Lets talk and Lets learnBy Lu Lu from Nanmen Elementary School The Analysis of the Teaching MaterialThis lesson is taken from Part B, Unit 3 of PEP English Book of Grade Four. The main topic of this unit is to talk about weather. In Part B, the first lesson is always devoted to Lets learn and the second to Lets talk. This lesson is focused on Lets talk which is a conversation lesson. The main activities are Lets talk and Lets play. The Analysis of the Students1. The students are in Grade 4, they are very young and active. 2. They like games, competition, and something interesting. 3. Students have learned Lets learn, so they are familiar with the pattern, Whats the weather like in ? 4. Some of them are willing to show themselves. But some are shy or afraid to make mistakes. So as their teacher, I must pay more attention to those students and encourage them. Knowledge Objectives1. To be able to read new words correctly, like Toronto and degree(s).2. To be able to talk about the weather in different cities with the following patterns, 2.1 Whats the weather like in ? 2.2 How about ? 2.2 -Is it ? -Yes, it is. / No, it isnt.3. To be able to know the telephone language, Hi.This is .4. To know two ways to express the temperature. Key Points and Difficult PointsThe key point is to help students talk about the weather in different cities.The difficult point is to help them be aware of the differences between 26 and 26. Teaching ProceduresStep 1: Warming-up and revision1) Greetings.2) Have a competition to review words.3) Talk about four pictures.Purpose of my designing: We have a competition to help students relax, and excite their interest. At the same time, we can review the previous knowledge and learn something new, like How about ? Is it ? Step 2: Presentation1) Do Lets play. Work in pairs to talk about the weather of the cities. 2) My friend, Miss Owl interrupts my lesson and she tries to tell us something about thermometer.3) Go back to the lesson and know a new friend, Mark. And create another situation that Mark calls me and learn the telephone language “This is”.4) Listen to the tape and answer two questions.Purpose of my designing: 1) In this part, I make a video and ask my friend Miss Owl to talk about the differences between centigrade and Fahrenheit. Miss Owl is very cute, and students all like her. With the help of Miss Owl, they can easily understand the difference.2)Then I create a situation, which helps students to understand the telephone language.In short, in this part students can review the previous knowledge and learn some new ones, which helps them be ready for the following learning.Step3: Practice1)Read after the tape. 2)Read in groups. 3)Role playing.Purpose of my designing: In this part, students learn the conversation and practice their oral English.Step 4: Consolidation 1) Work in pairs and make up a new conversations. Purpose of my designing: I choose some places which are closely related to our real life to attract students interest. Whats more, I can check if the students have mastered the knowledge in this class.Step 5: HomeworkI assign three levels of homework. Students are free to choose the appropriate one to do.
