(Civil Engineering) with Specialization in Offshore Engineering Candidates who wish to obtain the MSc (CE) with specialization in Offshore Engineering must pass at least five (20 MCs) of the following distinct modules, each with a grade point of at least 2.0 (Grade C):CE5307 Offshore HydrodynamicsCE5703 Analysis & Design of Offshore StructureCE5710 Design of Floating StructuresCE5711 Offshore Moorings & RisersCE5712 Offshore PipelinesCE5713 Offshore FoundationsCE5714 Production and Exploration of PetroleumCE5715 Arctic EngineeringCE5887 Topics in Offshore EngineeringShould a student have sufficient reasons to replace any of the above modules by another appropriate module, approval must be sought from the Head, Department of Civil Engineering or his nominee.In addition, he/she must complete at least three (12 MCs) of the following modules:CE4257 Linear Finite Element AnalysisCE4258 Structural Stability and Dynamics CE5105 Analytical & Numerical Methods in Foundation Engineering CE5308 Coastal Engineering and Sediment TransportCE5509 Advanced Structural Steel DesignCE5514 Plate and Shell StructuresCE5603 Engineering Economics and Project EvaluationCE5701 Engineering Fracture MechanicsCE5702 CE Reliability Analysis & DesignCE5804 Global Infrastructure Project ManagementCE6003 Numerical Methods in Engineering MechanicsCE6006 Advanced Finite Element AnalysisCE6101 Geotechnical Constitutive ModellingThe remaining two modules (8 MCs) to satisfy the degree requirements may be selected from level 5000 and 6000 modules offered by the Department of Civil Engineering, which also include the above mentioned modules.For modules outside the Department of Civil Engineering, prior approval must be sought from the Head, Department of Civil Engineering or his nominee. 2) NTU 南洋理工大學MSc. ofOffshore Engineering 已合并到 MSc. of Civil Engineering .sg/CEE/program/civil/subjects.aspCourses eg.:CV6801 Sea Loads CV6804 Advanced Offshore Engineering CV6805 Design of Offshore Structures CV6806 Submarine Pipeline Design CV6807 Fatigue and Fracture of Marine Structures CV6808 Safety Management and its Applications CV7001 Finite Element Methods CV7002 Advanced Strength of Materials CV7003 Advanced Engineering Mathematics CV7802 Advanced Hyrdrodynamics CV7803 Numerical Methods etc.感謝龍船船友Dionysus、大T的整理! 留學申請常識及材料準備 一般中國學生都申請秋季入學,那么如果你要2006年秋季入學,你的申請材料就必須在2005年底的時候或者是2006年初寄過去。申請必須準備那些東西呢?首先是GPA,也就是平均分,如果你的排名很高也可以。其次是TOEFL和GRE,這必須在開始申請前考完。我們來看看申請準備材料的清單: 本科生:(對每個學校) 1。 學校必須的申請表格。 2。一份或兩份從大一到大三的全部課程成績單,有個別學??赡軙髮⒋笏牡谝粚W期的成績單提交。成績單要有教務(wù)的公章,并且由教務(wù)封好信封,在封口處蓋章。成績單必須是中英文對照。 3。 三封推薦信。一般由老師寫好后,簽字,和推薦表格一起密封在信封內(nèi),然后在封口處簽字。注意是所有封口簽字,因此建議使用只有一個封口的信封。 4。 英語能力的證明信。部分學校,如Princeton,Boston College等要求由英語教師或以英語為母語的導(dǎo)師填寫一個證明申請人英語能力的表格。 5。 個人簡歷(Resume)。 6。 如果專業(yè)成績較好,可以列一份專業(yè)課程的成績列表。 7。 如果排名較高,可以在系里開一份排名證明。 8。 如果發(fā)表過論文,可以把論文的Abstract復(fù)印,附在申請材料中。 9。 如果在國際競賽中獲過獎,可以把獎狀復(fù)印附在申請材料中。 10。 有些文科專業(yè)需要提交Writing Sample。有些學校需要提交研究計劃。 研究生:(對每個學校) 除了上面本科生所需的材料之外,還應(yīng)該準備 1。 本科的畢業(yè)證、學位證與成績單一起封好。 2。 如果有工作經(jīng)歷,并且對申請有用,應(yīng)該開出工作證明。 雖然申請研究生院的文書工作并不是象申請商學院的MBA那么恐怖,但時間總是有限的,當你拿到申請材料的時候,就應(yīng)該仔細看看,運籌一下你要如何把握那些關(guān)鍵因素:Personal Statement、申請表格、推薦信、成績單、GRE、TOEFL成績,還有可能的電話或者面對面面試。 古語云“知己知彼,百戰(zhàn)不殆”,在申請前仔細研究一下申請中的基本信息、背景知識和相關(guān)技巧是非常必要的。下面,我們來看看申請中常常提到的幾個概念:1。錄取委員會(The Admissions Committee) 每個系都有自己的錄取委員會,他們主要負責決定是錄取還是拒絕一個申請者。即使你的材料開始是寄到研究生院,也會很快的轉(zhuǎn)到你申請的院系。一般研究生院的錄取委員會主要是由教授構(gòu)成,這就是為什么聯(lián)系某些教授(套辭)有時會有非常大的作用,因為很有可能這些被套的教授掌握著錄取的大權(quán)。還有些研究生院采取投票制度,即所有評委Committee member一起Vote,差額選舉,來決定最終的候選人。 錄取過程都是怎樣的呢?一旦你的申請材料完成并寄到研究生院的錄取辦公室,它就會被處理然后轉(zhuǎn)到相應(yīng)的院系。每個系都會有一個錄取委員會,包括五到六個教授,有時候有一兩個博士生(Ph。D。),他們將決定錄取誰。 大多數(shù)錄取委員會一收到材料就開始審閱,把申請者分為兩堆,yes或者no,(Waiting list在研究生院相對少一些),第一堆最少,第二堆最多。 2。 院系秘書(The Departmental Secretary/Coordinator) 每個學院都有一個(至少一個)重要的行政調(diào)度者,他/她通曉申請過程中的絕大多數(shù)細節(jié),并能夠積極地回答問題,幫助申請者解決問題。他/她通常被稱為“小秘”、“小米”(secretary),或者是協(xié)調(diào)員(coordinator/administrator),他/她甚至可以對你的申請策略提出建議,并幫助你評估你的競爭力。記住,這(些)人并沒有最后的生殺大權(quán),但是他/她卻有著強烈的影響錄取委員會成員的能力。 如果你對申請有任何問題或者疑問,您可以發(fā)信或者打電話聯(lián)系這(些)人,而不是直接聯(lián)系主任之類的重量級人物。記住一定要非常禮貌、客氣。根據(jù)我們所講過的信息不均衡原則,這(類)人通常掌握大量有效的資源信息,如今年計劃錄取人數(shù),去年招收了多少中國學生,你的托福、GRE成績是否符合學校標準等等。因此,與他/她建立良好的關(guān)系對你的申請有可能會有非常大的幫助。值得注意的一點是他/她每天很忙,不要經(jīng)常騷擾即可。 3。 截止日期(Deadlines) 這個名詞大家一看就知道什么意思,再此不再贅述。提醒大家一點:各學校的截至日期是不同的,時間一般從12月份跨至次年2月份。建議大家將這樣的重要信息統(tǒng)計起來,隨時檢索,先做截止日期早的學校。詳情可以參照書后的附錄。4。 申請費(Application Fee) 絕大多數(shù)學校對申請費的要求都是非常嚴格的,但也不排除象Cornell,Rochester這樣對申請費有flexibility的學校。建議象統(tǒng)計截止日期一樣將所有學校的申請費要求列表統(tǒng)計,便于自己統(tǒng)一到銀行辦理匯票或是網(wǎng)上申請。如何逃申請費一直是中國學生比較關(guān)注的問題,我們建議對自己非常想要去的學校最好還是交費。 5。 考試分數(shù)(Test Scores) 一般所需要提交的標準化考試包含TOEFL、GRE、GRE SUB(部分學校和學科要求、部分學校和學科強烈建議)。值得一提的是,這些考試成績的重要性并不是很大,學校
