establishedprogramsforoverseeingtheproductionof
Macy’sprivatebrandproductstoensuretheymeetourlaborandenvironmentalstandards.
Thecustomerisatthecenterofallourwork,andsupportingtheirabilitytoshopmoresustainableproductsacrossour
nameplatesisapriority.Wedothisthroughinitiativeslike
our
sustainabilitysitelet
,whichmakesiteasytofindproductsthatarevalidatedasresponsiblymadeunderoneoffourpillars:preferredmaterials,preferredpractices,peoplefirstanddesignedforlesswaste,aswellasourworktoincorporatemoresustainablysourcedrawmaterialsandfibersintoourprivatebrandproducts.
Weareexpandingourcurrentsustainableproductsofferingbeyondthird-partycertificationstoincludesustainable
innovations,specificallyintheareaofcircularsolutionssuchasrefillablebeauty.Additionally,weareprioritizingopportunitiesthatextendthelifeofaproductandhelpourcustomers.
In2022,weintroducedatrainingprogrampreparedbyour
SustainabilityandPrivateBranddesignteamstotrainMacy’sproductdevelopment,sourcing,designandbuyingteamsonoursustainableproductguidelinesandprocesses.Bytheendof2022,wetrainedmorethan800colleaguesaccountable
forbuying,developingandsourcingMacy’sproducts.
Wecontinuetotrainthesecolleaguesin2023withafocusonpreferredmaterialsbyproductcategoryinlinewithourcolleagueengagementambition:“100%ofdesign,productdevelopment,sourcingandbuyingteamsinvolvedinprivatebrandproductsmanagedbytheMacy’ssourcingteam
willcompletetrainingonsustainablematerialsanddesignby2025.”
