WhenIhurriedtothestore,Isawthatthebookswerealreadybeingpackedintoboxes.IhadalongchatwithCasey,thestore'selderlyowner.Sighingdeeply,hetoldmehowitwasbecomingdifficulttorunanindependentbookstore.Mostyoungpeoplepreferredreadinge-booksontablets.Moreandmorecustomerswerebeingattractedbychainstoresandonlinediscounts.Itriedtothinkofsomewordsofsympathy,butIhadtoadmitthattheRainbowBookstorecouldn'tstayinbusinessmuchlonger.Nowreadthepassageandcheckyouranswer.3

(1)“Signingdeeply”動(dòng)詞的現(xiàn)在分詞短語(yǔ)作伴隨狀語(yǔ),動(dòng)詞sigh與邏輯主語(yǔ)he構(gòu)成主動(dòng)關(guān)系;

拓展:動(dòng)詞的現(xiàn)在分詞形式可在句子中作狀語(yǔ),表示伴隨、原因、結(jié)果、方式、條件、時(shí)間等意義,此時(shí),現(xiàn)在分詞的邏輯主語(yǔ)與句子的主語(yǔ)一致,且所表示的動(dòng)作與句子中的謂語(yǔ)的動(dòng)作同時(shí)發(fā)生。

(2)how引導(dǎo)賓語(yǔ)從句,it為從句的形式主語(yǔ),其中的torunanindependentbookstore為不定式短語(yǔ)作真正主語(yǔ)后置。5.Mostyoungpeoplepreferredreadinge-booksontablets.大多數(shù)年輕人更喜歡在平板電腦上閱讀電子書。

(3)stayinbusiness維持營(yíng)業(yè)7.Childhoodmemoriescamebacktomesoclearly,asiftheeventshadhappenedonlyyesterday.童年的記憶如此清晰地浮現(xiàn)在我的腦海中,仿佛事情就發(fā)生在昨天。asif引導(dǎo)虛擬語(yǔ)氣。當(dāng)說(shuō)話人認(rèn)為句子所述的是不真實(shí)的或不大可能發(fā)生或存在的情況時(shí),可以用asif引導(dǎo)的從句。從句中動(dòng)詞的時(shí)態(tài)主要分為兩種情況:(1)如果從句表示與現(xiàn)在事實(shí)相反,謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞用一般過(guò)去時(shí)。

e.g.Heactsasifheknewme.他表現(xiàn)得好像認(rèn)識(shí)我似的。

(2)如果從句表示與過(guò)去事實(shí)相反,謂語(yǔ)從句用過(guò)去完成時(shí)。

e.g.HetalksaboutAntarcticaasifhehadbeentherebefore.

他談起南極就好像他之前去過(guò)那里一樣。8.Wespenthoursreading,seatedonthestore'soldbutcomfortablefurniture.我們坐在書店陳舊但舒適的椅子上看幾個(gè)小時(shí)的書。

(1)“seatedon...furniture”為過(guò)去分詞短語(yǔ)作伴隨狀語(yǔ)。

(2)seatvt.(使)就座;坐;能容納……人
