grooming(照料),comfortingbehaviorssuchasholdinghandsorpattingshoulders,looking

backfororwaitingforotherindividuals,offeringsupportduringconflicts,andsittingnear

eachother.

Theteamfoundthatyoungadultmalesspentlesstimewiththeirmothersthan

adolescentsdid—26%versus76%.Andunlikeadolescents,theynolongercriedfortheir

mothersorsoughtcomfortafterfighting.

However,whentheseyoungadultmaleshappenedtobeinthecompanyoftheirmothers,

theyactedjustliketheadolescents,theresearchersreportthismonthinBehavioralEcology
