e.g.(1)那項(xiàng)工程耗費(fèi)了相當(dāng)多的時(shí)間和資金。Theprojectwastedaconsiderableamountoftimeandmoney.(2)對(duì)這棟建筑物的損壞相當(dāng)嚴(yán)重。Damagetothebuildingwasconsiderable.considerablyadv.(formal)much;alot非常;很;相當(dāng)多地e.g.不同的人對(duì)睡眠的需要差異相當(dāng)大。Theneedforsleepvariesconsiderablyfrompersontoperson.4.wealthy['welθi]adj.(wealthier,wealthiest)rich;havealotofmoney,possessions,etc.富有的,有錢的,財(cái)產(chǎn)多的e.g.有錢人家awealthyfamily2.(thewealthy)n.[pl.]peoplewhoarerich富人,有錢人;闊人n.wealth5.在英語中,當(dāng)名詞有多個(gè)形容詞修飾時(shí),就有它們的先后順序。下面的口訣可幫你記住這一先后順序。限定描繪大長(zhǎng)高,形狀年齡和新老;顏色國(guó)籍跟材料,作用類別往后靠;“限定詞”包括:冠詞、物主代詞、指示代詞、或數(shù)詞,它位于各類形容詞前。它本身分為三位,即:前、中、后。前位限定詞有all、half、both、such分?jǐn)?shù)和倍數(shù);中位限定詞有冠詞、指示代詞、形容詞性物主代詞、名詞所有格和no、every、each、either、neither、enough、much、以及wh-起首的限定詞[what(ever),which(ever),whose]等;后位限定詞有基數(shù)詞和序數(shù)詞、past、same、many、more、most、few、fewer、fewest、little、less、least、own、last等,但序數(shù)詞位于基數(shù)詞前。如:bothmyhands、allhalfhisincome等?!懊枥L”類形容詞表示事物的性質(zhì)及人們的觀點(diǎn)如:beautiful、bad、cold、great等?!按箝L(zhǎng)高”表示大小、長(zhǎng)短、高低等一些詞。表示“形狀”的詞如:roundsquare等。“國(guó)籍”指一個(gè)國(guó)家或地區(qū)的詞?!安腷ad笨人good能人ingreenhands在生手中new新old老在使用中,應(yīng)注意與介詞短語inhand的區(qū)別。inhand在句中可作狀語、定語、補(bǔ)足語,主要用來表達(dá)以下幾種含義:1.在手頭;可供使用2.在掌握中;在控制中3.正在處理中(用此義時(shí)常同動(dòng)詞have、keep、take等連用);(通常指工作)在進(jìn)行中,如:(1)由于手中的問題緊迫,我們馬上就把它解決了。Asthematterinhandwasurgent,wedealtwithitatonce.(2)你能完全控制住這種形勢(shì)嗎?Canyouhavethesituationwellinhand?(3)開始新的工作之前,我們應(yīng)完成我們正在進(jìn)行的工作。Weshouldfinishtheworkwehaveinhandbeforewebeginsomethingnew.inthehandsofsb./insb.’shandsbeinglookedafterorcontrolledbysb.受某人照料;被某人控制e.g.這件事現(xiàn)在正由我的律師處理。Thematterisnowinthehandsofmylawyer.11.ransom['r?ns?m]
