IntheNetherlands,bicyclesoutnumberthepopulationof17millionbyatleastonemillionandtherearesome25,000kmofbicyclepathinthecountry.Thosestatisticsaresettogrowasmoreandmorepeopletaketotwo-wheeledtransport,leadingtoanincreasedriskofinjury.

“Wefoundthebran-fedwormshavebeensignificantlyhealthierthantheplastic-fedorstarvedworms,morethandoublingtheirweightoverthethreeweekstheyhavebeenmonitored.Thoughtheplastic-fedwormsmadelessimpressivegains,theystillputonmoreweightthanthestarvedworms,”Dr.Rinkesaid.“Thissuggeststhewormscangetenergyfromplastics,mostlikelywiththehelpoftheirgutmicrobes.”
