Withthisinmind,researchersatKyushuUniversityinJapanrecentlycreatedanear-futureperceptionsystemnamedPreviewedRealitythatallowshumanuserstoforecastfuturechangesintheirenvironment,whichcouldtheninformtheirdecisionsandguidetheiractions.Thissystemcompilesadata-setcontaininginformationaboutthepositionofobjects,humansandrobotswithinthesameenvironment,tothenproducesimulations(模擬)ofeventsthatcouldtakeplaceinthenearfuture.ThesesimulationsarepresentedtohumanusersviaVirtualReality(VR)orAugmentedReality(AR)headsets.
Tocollectinformationaboutthepositionofdifferentobjects,robots,andhumansinasharedenvironment,theresearchersusedanumberofstrategicallyplacedsensors,includingopticaltrackersthatmonitoredthemovementsofobjectsorrobots,andaRGB-Dcamerawhichmainlytrackedhumanactions.Thedatagatheredbythesensorswasthenfedtoamotionplannerandadynamicssimulator.Combiningthesetwosystemcomponentsallowedtheresearcherstoforecastchangesinagivenenvironmentandsynthesize(合成)imagesofeventsthatarelikelytooccurinthenearfuture,fromtheviewpointofaspecifichuman.HumanuserscouldthenviewthesesynthesizedimagessimplythroughaVRheadsetoranARdisplay.
