大學英語專業(yè)泛讀教學探討IntroductionWiththeglobalizationoftheworldeconomy,thedemandforprofessionalEnglishproficiencyamongcollegestudentsisgraduallybecomingacommonrequirement.Englishproficiencyhasbecomeanessentialelementofthecompetitivenessofcollegestudents.Therefore,EnglishreadinghasbecomeanimportantpartofEnglishlanguagelearninginuniversityEnglisheducationinChina.ThispaperintendstoexploretheteachingmodeofreadingandcomprehensionforEnglishmajorsinChina.Throughthediscussionofthecurrentsituation,problems,andmeasuresinEnglishreadingeducation,itprovidesareferenceforEnglishteachersinuniversities.1.CurrentSituationofEnglishReadingEducationinChineseUniversitiesIngeneral,thequalityofEnglishreadingeducationinChineseuniversitiesstillneedstobeimproved.Firstly,somestudentshaveweakEnglishfoundation,whichmakesreadingcomprehensiondifficult.Theyhavealimitedvocabularyandlacktheabilitytounderstandcomplexsentencestructures,whichleadstodifficultyingraspingthecoremeaningofreadingmaterials.Secondly,someEnglishteachingprogramsinuniversitiespayinsufficientattentiontothetrainingofstudents'readingskills.Often,thefocusisongrammaticaltraining,translation,andwritingskills.Withthelargeclasssizes,itisoftendifficulttoprovidepersonalizedandeffectiveguidancetostudents'readingskills.2.ProblemsinEnglishReadingEducationinChineseUniversitiesThereareseveralproblemsinEnglishreadingeducationinChineseuniversities.Forinstance,thelackofdiversificationofreadingmaterials.EnglishteachinginChinagenerallyfollowsthetextbookmodel,andthereisinsufficientreadingmaterialforstudentstochoosefrom.Thisleadstolimitedreadinginterestandmotivation,whichcontributestotheirlackofinterestinEnglishreading.Moreover,studentshavealackofreadingstrategies.Theydonotknowhowtoanalyzeorinterpretreadingmaterials,andhencetheydefaulttotranslatingwordbyword,whichmakesitharderforthemtounderstandtheoverallmeaningofthereadingmaterials.Finally,inadequateguidanceintermsofreadingtechniquessuchaspre-reading,skimming,scanning,andnote-taking.3.MeasuresforImprovingEnglishReadingEducationinChineseUniversitiesTheteachingofEnglishreadinginChineseuniversitiesrequiresacomprehensivesolutionthatincludesthefollowingmeasures.Firstly,thereisaneedforthediversificationofreadingmaterials.Universitiesshouldstrivetoprovidevariousreadingmaterialswithdifferentdifficultylevelsthatcatertostudents'differentreadinginterestsandcognitivelevels.Itisalsonecessarytoencouragestudentstoreadextensively,bothinsideandoutsideofclass.Secondly,thereisaneedtostrengthenthetrainingofreadingskills.Thefocusshouldnotonlybeonimprovingstudents'vocabularybutalsoontheirunderstandingofEnglishsyntaxandlanguagefeatures.Teachersshouldalsoemphasizetheuseofvariousreadingstrategies,suchaspre-reading,predicting,questioning,andsummarizing.Suchstrategiesnotonlypromotefasterreadingspeedsbutalsohelpenhancestudents'comprehensionskills.Thirdly,collaborativelearningshouldbeencouragedinEnglishreadingeducation.Groupactivitiessuchasdiscussions,debates,andgroupassignments,canpromoteasenseofcommunityandencouragestudents'participationandengagementinclass.ConclusionInconclusion,EnglishreadingeducationinChineseuniversitiesrequiresmoreattentionfromeducators.Therearevariousmeasuresthateducatorscantaketoimprovestudents'Englishreadingskills,suchasthediversificationofreadingmaterials,strengtheningthetrainingofreadingskills,theuseofvariousreadingstrateg
