Frictionisacommonphenomenoninmechanicalsystems.Itistheforcethatopposesmotionbetweentwosurfacesincontact.Frictionleadstoenergylossesandwearofmachines,whichcanreducetheefficiencyanddurabilityofthesystem.Therefore,itisessentialtomonitorthefrictionalstateofmachinestoensuretheirsafeandefficientoperation.Inthispaper,weproposeafrictionstatusonlinemonitoringsystembasedonthepiezoelectricsensor.

Principleofpiezoelectricsensor

Apiezoelectricsensorisatransducerthatgeneratesanelectricalchargewhensubjectedtomechanicalstress.Itconsistsofapiezoelectriccrystalsandwichedbetweentwoelectrodes.Whenaforceisapplied,thecrystalgeneratesachargeontheelectrodes,whichcanbemeasuredbyanamplifierandadataacquisitionsystem.Themagnitudeofthechargeisproportionaltotheforceappliedandcanbeusedtocalculatethefrictionalforcebetweentwosurfaces.

Designofthemonitoringsystem
