《高級英語》課程教學(xué)大綱一、課程基本信息課程代碼:080029;080030課程名稱:高級英語I;高級英語II英文名稱:AdvancedEnglish課程類別:專業(yè)課學(xué)時(shí):72X2=144學(xué)分:4X2=8適用對象:英語(旅游管理方向)、英語(國際商務(wù)方向)專業(yè)高年級學(xué)生考核方式:筆試先修課程:《現(xiàn)代大學(xué)英語》精讀(基礎(chǔ)英語)1-4冊二、課程簡介高級英語課程題材廣泛,時(shí)代氣息濃厚,選材體裁多樣,除說明文外,還有記敘文、敘述文和論說文,是一門訓(xùn)練學(xué)生綜合英語技能尤其是閱讀理解、語法修辭與寫作能力的課程,注重培養(yǎng)學(xué)生對不同體裁、不同題材、不同風(fēng)格的文章的理解和欣賞能力。課程材料主要選自名家作品,內(nèi)容涉及政治、經(jīng)濟(jì)、社會(huì)、文化、文學(xué)、教育、哲學(xué)諸方面。通過精心閱讀與分析,學(xué)生的知識面得以擴(kuò)大,對社會(huì)和人生的理解得以加深,分析理解能力及邏輯思維能力得以升華,英語語言綜合運(yùn)用能力得以提高。為此,每課都配有大量的相關(guān)練習(xí),包括閱讀理解、詞匯研究、句子釋義,文體分析、中英互譯和寫作練習(xí)等。Featuredinawiderangeofmaterialswithstrongflavorofthetimesandvarioustypesofwriting—exposition,description,narrationandargumentation,AdvancedEnglishisacoursedesignedtotrainstudents’comprehensiveEnglishskills,especiallyinreadingcomprehension,grammar,rhetoricandwriting.Greatattentionispaidtostudents’developmentincomprehensionandappreciationofthearticleswithdifferenttypes,themesandstyles.Materialsareselectedlargelyfromsomefamouscontemporarymasters’workswithrespecttopolitics,economics,society,culture,literature,education,philosophy,etc.Students’scrupulousreadingandanalysisofthearticleshelptobroadentheirknowledge,deepentheirunderstandingoflifeandsociety,elevatetheiranalysisandlogicalthinkingandenhancetheirabilitycomprehensivelyinapplicationoftheEnglishlanguage.Forthosepurposes,plentyofrelevantexercisesareattachedtoeachlessonforreadingcomprehension,wordstudy,sentenceparaphrase,styleanalysis,writingandChinese-Englishcross-translation.三、課程性質(zhì)與教學(xué)目的根據(jù)全國英語專業(yè)教學(xué)大綱規(guī)定,在基礎(chǔ)階段的英語教學(xué)完成以后,必須繼續(xù)進(jìn)行更高一級的英語閱讀教學(xué)。高級英語是英語專業(yè)本科教學(xué)中的一門主干必修課,是低年級基礎(chǔ)英語課程的延伸和發(fā)展。該課程的教學(xué)重點(diǎn)在于提高學(xué)生閱讀理解和詞匯運(yùn)用能力,即能掌握和使用所學(xué)詞匯,特別是同義詞、近義詞的區(qū)分和使用,正確理解文章的內(nèi)容和主題思想,抓住文章的要點(diǎn),分析文章的結(jié)構(gòu)、語言技巧和修辭特點(diǎn);提高學(xué)生語言表達(dá)能力,邏輯思維和判斷評述能力,能用英語解釋文章中的難句、要點(diǎn);能用英語歸納文章的主題思想,并能對文章的內(nèi)容進(jìn)行簡單的分析、鑒賞、評論。學(xué)生應(yīng)該能用辭典和其他工具書獨(dú)立解決語言和文化、背景知識方面的難點(diǎn),增加文化知識,尤其是英語語言國家的背景知識和文化知識,更好地使語言和文化結(jié)合起來。通過一學(xué)年(約144學(xué)時(shí))的高級英語課程教學(xué),學(xué)生應(yīng)達(dá)到高等學(xué)校外語專業(yè)教學(xué)指導(dǎo)委員會(huì)修訂的《高等學(xué)校英語專業(yè)英語教學(xué)大綱》所規(guī)定的要求:認(rèn)知詞匯達(dá)10,000以上,能正確而熟練地使用其中5,000多個(gè)及其最常用的搭配;能熟練掌握句子之間和段落之間的各種銜接手段,連貫地表達(dá)思想;能讀懂一般英美報(bào)刊雜志上的文章、英語國家出版的有一定難度的歷史傳記和文學(xué)作品;能分析文章的思想觀點(diǎn)、語篇結(jié)構(gòu)、語言特點(diǎn)和修辭手法等。通過閱讀和分析內(nèi)容廣泛的材料,點(diǎn)、英語專業(yè)高年級階段的主要教學(xué)任務(wù)是讓學(xué)生繼續(xù)打好語言基本功,學(xué)習(xí)英語專業(yè)知識和相關(guān)專業(yè)知識,進(jìn)一步擴(kuò)大知識面,增強(qiáng)對文化差異的敏感性,提高綜合運(yùn)用英語進(jìn)行交際的能力。與其它高年級英語課程相比,高級英語課程課時(shí)最多,涵蓋面最廣;因此,該課程是保證實(shí)現(xiàn)教學(xué)目標(biāo)的重要環(huán)節(jié)。四、教學(xué)內(nèi)容及要求(一)目的與要求高級英語(教材:《現(xiàn)代大學(xué)英語》精讀楊立民、梅仁毅主編外語教學(xué)與研究出版社20年0版4)LessonOneWhereDoWeGoFromHere?TeachingAimsandRequirementscarefullyreadthe“GuidetoReading”togetabasicunderstandingofthebackgroundofDr.MartinLutherKing’sspeechWhereDoWeGoFromHere?readthewordandexpressionsprovidedonPage11thatwillfacilitatereadingpreviewthespeechitselfwiththehelpofthenotesprovidedbetweenpage12to15learnhowtocomprehendworksofEnglishliteratureforthislesson,afamousspeechbyaLessonNineLessonNineLessonFourLessonFourfamouspersonlearnhowtousesomerhetoricaldevicessuchasmetaphor,simile,antitheses,andparallelstructureunderstandsomebiblicalallusionswiththehelpoftheoriginalversionlearntoparaphrasesomesentencesinthetextdosometranslationworkasisrequired.重點(diǎn):restructuringthewholeofAmericansocietywithnonviolence難點(diǎn):therhetoricaldevicesinthespeechLessonTwoTwoKindsTeachingAimsandRequirementscarefullyreadthe“GuidetoReading”togetabasicunderstandingofthebackgroundinformationofthestory:TwoKindsreadthewordandexpressionsprovidedon31thatwillfacilitatereadingpreviewthestorywiththehelpofthenotesprovidedon32learnhowtoreadandappreciateanEnglishshortstory:especiallythetheme,character,organizationofplotdevelopmentandthehero,sorheroine,sepiphany(頓悟)getsomebriefinformationaboutthedifferencesbetweenChinesecultureandAmericanculturegetsomeinformationabouttheauthor,AmyTan(譚恩美)explainsomemeaningfulsentencesandunderstandtheirimplications重點(diǎn):thesharpconflictbetweentwogenerationsandtwocultures難點(diǎn):theauthor'slanguageandtechniquesinwritingLessonThreeGoodsMove.PeopleMove.IdeasMove.AndCulturesChange.TeachingAimsandRequirementslearnhowtoreadandappreciateanEnglishessayinthewaytheargumentsarepresented.Whataresomeoftheimportantwordsthattheauthorusesindevelopingherargumentsgettoknowwhattheauthor,sattitudeistowardsglobalizationgettoknowhowtheauthordescribestheprocessfromthemovingofgoodstothechangingofculturesnotethechoiceofwordsintherhetoricaldeviceofcontrasttheauthoremploysandthemoodorattitudeexpressedthroughsuchchoiceofwordsnoticesomecharacteristicsofajournalisticwriting.重點(diǎn):Globalizationwillresultinaculturalmerging.難點(diǎn):thewordsandtherhetoricaldeviceofcontrasttheauthoremploysProfessionsforWomenTeachingAimsandRequirementsThebackgroundinformationoftheauthor,VirginiaWoolf,andherwritingstyle.Thecharacteristicofthelanguageinthis
