bycontract.Employmentisnotforanyspecifiedtermandmaybeterminatedatanytimebyeithertheemployeeorthedistrict.

PayrollInformation.Beforeapaycheckcanbeissuedtoanewemployee,allrequiredformsmustbecompletedandonfilewiththePayrollDepartmentand/orthePersonnelDepartment. SearchesandalcoholanddrugtestingPolicyDHENoninvestigatorysearchesintheworkplace,includingaccessinganemployee’sdesk,filecabinets,orworkareatoobtaininformationneededforusualbusinesspurposesmayoccurwhenanemployeeisunavailable.Therefore,employeesareherebynotifiedthattheyhavenolegitimateexpectationofprivacyinthoseplaces.Inaddition,thedistrictreservestherighttoconductsearcheswhenthereisreasonablecausetobelieveasearchwilluncoverevidenceofwork-relatedmisconduct.Suchaninvestigatorysearchmayincludedrugandalcoholtestingifthesuspectedviolationrelatestodrugoralcoholuse.Thedistrictmaysearchtheemployee,theemployee’spersonalitems,workareas,lockers,andprivatevehiclesparkedondistrictpremisesorworksitesorusedindistrictbusiness.Employeesrequiredtohaveacommercialdriver’slicense.Anyemployeewhoisrequiredtohaveacommercialdriver’slicense(CDL)issubjecttodrugandalcoholtesting.Thisincludesalldriverswhooperateamotorvehicledesignedtotransport16ormorepeople,countingthedriver;driversoflargevehicles;ordriversofvehiclesusedinthetransportationofhazardousmaterials.Teachers,coaches,orotheremployeeswhoprimarilyperformdutiesotherthandrivingaresubjecttotestingrequirementswhentheirdutiesincludedriving.Drugtestingwillbeconductedbeforeanindividualassumesdrivingresponsibilities.Alcoholanddrugtestswillbeconductedwhenreasonablesuspicionexists,atrandom,whenanemployeereturnstodutyafterengaginginprohibitedconduct,andasafollowupmeasure.Testingmaybeconductedfollowingaccidents.Returntodutyandfollowuptestingwillbeconductedwhenanemployeewhohasviolatedtheprohibitedalcoholconductstandardsortestedpositiveforalcoholordrugsreturnstoduty.AllemployeesrequiredtohaveaCDLwhoaresubjecttoalcoholanddrugtestingwillreceiveacopyofthedistrict’spolicy,thetestingrequirements,anddetailedinformationonalcoholanddrugabuseandtheavailabilityofassistanceprograms.EmployeeswithquestionsorconcernsrelatingtoalcoholanddrugpoliciesandrelatededucationalmaterialshouldcontacttheMPISDHumanResourcesOffice.FirstaidandCPRcertificationPolicyDBAHeadmarchingbanddirectors,headcoaches,orchiefsponsorsofanextracurricularathleticactivity(includingcheerleading)thatissponsoredorsanctionedbythedistrictortheUniversityInterscholasticLeaguemustmaintainandsubmittothedistrictproofofcurrentcertificationinfirstaidandcardiopulmonaryresuscitation(CPR).CertificationmustbeissuedbytheAmericanRedCross,theAmericanHeartAssociation,oranotherorganizationthatprovidesequivalenttrainingandcertification.ReassignmentsandtransfersPolicyDKAllpersonnelaresubjecttoassignment/reassignmentbytheSuperintendent.Reassignmentisatransfertoanotherposition,department,orfacilitythatdoesnotnecessitateachangeintheemploymentcontract.Campusreassignmentsmustbeapprovedbytheprincipalatthereceivingcampus.Whenreassignmentsareduetoenrollmentshiftsorprogramchanges,theSuperintendenthasfinalplacementauthority.Extracurricularorsupplementaldutyassignmentsmaybereassignedatanytime.Employeeswhoobjecttoare-assignmentmayfollowtheprocessforemployeecomplaintsasoutlinedinpolicyDGBA(Local).Employeeswiththerequiredqualificationsforapositionmayrequestatransfertoanothercampusordepartment.Awrittenrequestfortransfermustbecompletedandsignedbytheemployeeandtheemployee’ssupervisor.TeachersrequestingatransfertoanothercampusbeforetheschoolyearbeginsmustsubmittheirrequestbyJune1ofthatyear.Requestsfortransferduringtheschoolyearwillbeconsideredonlywhenthechangewillnotadverselyaffectstudentsandafterareplacementhasbeenfound.Alltransferrequestswillbecoordinatedbytheemployee’ssupervisorandmustbeapprovedbythereceivingsupervisor.AllsuchtransfersaresubjecttoapprovalbytheSuperintendentofSchools.WorkloadandworkschedulesPolicyDLProfessionalemployees.Professionalandadministrativeemployeesareexemptfromovertimepayandareemployedona10-,11-,or12-monthbasis,accordingtotheworkschedulessetbythedistrict.Aschoolcalendarisadoptedeachyeardesignatingtheworkscheduleforteachersandallschoolholidays.Noticeofworkschedulesincludingrequireddaysofserviceandscheduledholidayswillbedistributedeachschoolyear.Classroomteacherswillhaveplanningperiodsforinstructionalpreparationandconferences.Thescheduleofplanningperiodsissetatthecampuslevelbutmustprovideatleast450minuteswithineachtwo-weekperiodinblocksnotlessthan45minutes.Teachersandlibrariansareentitledtoaduty-freelunchperiodofatleast30minutes.Thedistrictmayrequireteacherstosupervisestudentsonedayaweekwhennootherpersonnelareavailable.Paraprofessionalandauxiliaryemployees.Supportemployeesareemployedatwillandwillbenotifiedoftherequireddutydays,holidays,andhoursofworkfortheirpositiononanannualbasis.Paraprofessionalandauxiliaryemployeesarenotexemptfromovertimeandarenotauthorizedtoworkinexcessoftheirassignedschedulewithoutpriorapprovalfromtheirsupervisor.Notifi
