、 Lesson 41 Do you call that a hat? New words and expressions 生詞 和 短語rude adj. I need a new hat.

、I must buy one. He needs a haircut. He must have one. I wont buy that. I dont need it. Do you need a car? 這里所謂的“情態(tài)動(dòng)詞”,就是指和can、must、may等一樣的情態(tài)動(dòng)詞,它們是沒有時(shí)態(tài)和單復(fù)數(shù)的變化。 比如: A:Must I

、do all these exercises? B:No, you neednt. 如果你要表達(dá)“你必須”的意思時(shí),就用“Yes, you must.” You neednt be so rude about it. You neednt have said that. We mustnt buy things we dont need. I neednt remind you of that terrib

、le tie you bought yesterday. 2. 這里neednt還可以用dont have to來代替: You neednt wait for me.You dont have to wait for me. (還沒有等) You neednt have waited for me.You didnt have to wait for me.

、ont have to來代替。 You mustnt make a noise. The children are asleep. You neednt drive so quickly; we have plenty of time. Or: You dont have to(havent got to) drive so quickly; we have plenty of time. You neednt come with us if you dont want to.

Or: You dont have to (havent got to) come with us if you dont want to. Do you call that a hat? His parents named him Robert, bu

、t the boys call him Bob. Do you call that a hat? I said to my wife. You neednt be so rude about it, my wife answered as she looked at herself in the mirror. neednt be so rude這里的neednt表示“不必要、沒必要”。 比如:I need a car(我需要一輛汽車。) 情態(tài)動(dòng)詞的need和can,ma

、y等情態(tài)動(dòng)詞一樣,后接動(dòng)詞原形,但只用于否定和疑問句,肯定句用must,have to,ought to或 should。也就是說情態(tài)動(dòng)詞的need只能表示“不必要”(neednt)或是“有必要嗎?”(Do you need)。而如果要表示“有必要、必須”就使用must,have to,ought to或 should。 We mustnt buy things we dont need.

You neednt shout; he can hear you. You mustnt shout; Tom is sleeping. Ten minutes later we walked out of the shop together. My wife was wearing a hat that looked l

、ike a lighthouse! Wear在這里是表示“穿、戴”的意思,再比如: Wear a black dress穿一件黑衣服 Wear a diamond earrings 戴一對(duì)鉆石耳環(huán) Wear the glasses 戴眼鏡 Wear perfume 用香水 The girl wears too much make-up. 本課必須熟記的詞組: look at oneself in the mirror 照鏡子 the chair with holes 帶網(wǎng)眼的椅子 in front of

、 在前面 regret doing sth. 后悔做了某事 remind sb. of sth. 提醒某人某事 canttoo再也不過分 walk out of 走出 wear a hat 戴帽子 look like 看起來象 Lesson 41 Do you call that a hat? Do you call that a hat? I said to my wife. You neednt be so rude about it, my wife answered as she looked at herself in the mirror.“你把那個(gè)叫帽子嗎?”

I sat down on one of those modern chairs with holes in it and waited. We had been in the hat shop for half an hour and my wife was still in front of the mirror. We mustnt buy things we dont need, I remarked suddenl

、y. I regretted saying it almost at once. You neednt have said that, my wife answered. I neednt remind you of that terrible tie you bought yesterday. 澳銢]必要這么說,”我妻子回答說,“我也不必提醒你昨天買的那條糟糕透了的領(lǐng)帶?!?I find it beautiful, I said. Do you call it a hat? I said to my wife. 我對(duì)妻子說),可以判斷作者不喜歡那頂帽子,所以a. didnt like the hat his wife had chosen 是正確答案。 You neednt have said that, my wife answered. I neednt remind you of that terrible tie yo

、u bought yesterday, 可以判斷只有a. his wife reminded him that he had bought a terrible tie 與課文的實(shí)際情況相符,是作者為對(duì)他妻子粗魯講話而后悔的原因,其他3個(gè)選擇都與事實(shí)不符,也不合乎邏輯。3. c a. mustnt (不應(yīng)該);b. wont(不想要);c. neednt(不必);d. dont need(不需要)4個(gè)選擇中只有c. neednt 與后面一句It isnt necessary(沒必要)的含義相同,所以選c.4. d a. still 和 d. yet 都有“還,仍然”的含義,但yet只能用于否定

5. c a. neednt, b. need not, d. havent need 都有語法錯(cuò)誤,只有c. 6. b 本句是針對(duì)一個(gè)事物的性質(zhì)或狀態(tài)提問的,回答是beautiful. a. what (什么); c. How much(多少); d. where(哪里)這3個(gè)疑問詞都不是問狀態(tài)或性質(zhì)的,只有b. How 是對(duì)狀態(tài)或性質(zhì)提問的,所以應(yīng)該選b.7. b 只有b. impossible(不可能的,辦不到的)同前一句中的can never have(永遠(yuǎn)不能有)的意思比較接近,因此應(yīng)該選b. a. unable(不能的,不會(huì)的)指人沒能力,不能用it做主語。 d. i
