Ability goals (1) use“can”to talk about ones abilities and likes (2) Arouse students interest in English by group work, and help students to form good learning habits. 3. Then asks: Do you like basketball/ volleyball? Do you want to join a basketball club?Step 2: PresentationAsk the students to look at the pictures of Page 1 , there are some clubs in it. Lets look at the clubs. What are they? They are art club, English club, chess club, swimming club and music club. What club do you want to join? Help the students to answer I want to join the art club and so on. If the school has clubs, the teacher can ask the students: What clubs do we have in our school?The teacher writes What club do you want to join? I want to join on the blackboard. Ask the students to practice it.Then introduces the key vocabularies and the words can and cant. The teacher says to the students who say he/she wants to join the basketball club: Can you play basketball? Help the students say Yes, I can. No, I cant. Then repeat with other actions or pictures, such as play volleyball.Show the students the activities the people in each club can do with the same step. Then repeat with dance, swim, play chess, paint, speak English and play the guitar with the help of doing the action. Or we can use the PowerPoint to help us to show the students what we can do. The teacher can ask the students to practice the following dialogues with can.Do the action and read the new words and phrases.Ask the students to practice can and cant. Ask the students to practice can you play it well?At the same time, the teacher write down sing, dance, swim, play chess, paint, speak English, and play the guitar on the blackboard. Ask the students to read after the teacher. Step 3 A game To be more familiar with the words and phrases, the teacher can organize a game like this:Write the words and phrases on pieces of paper. Ask one of the students come to the front and choose one of the paper, then do the action. Ask other students to guess what he or she can do. Then exchange.Step 4 1a:Look at the pictures on Page 1. Points to the activities the people in each club are doing. Say something about each clubs activity clearly. For example, This is a chess club. See the chess? This time ask the students to listen to the conversations and write a number 1 next to the first conversation they hear, a number 2 next to the second one they hear, and a number 3 next to the third one they hear. Ask them to use the vocabulary from .Step7 .Difficulties 1. 動詞play的幾種用法 (1)play表示“玩(球類)”或“玩棋牌及其他游戲”,這時作賓語的名詞前不帶任何冠詞。如:play basketball/cards/chess/bridge/badminton打籃球/打牌/下棋/打橋牌/打羽毛球。 (2)play表示“演奏,彈奏(樂器)”,這時表示樂器的名詞前須帶定冠詞the。如play the piano/violin。 (3)play表示“裝扮、扮演”。如:play a doctor/ Lu Xun/ the fool扮一名醫(yī)生/扮演魯迅/裝傻 (4)play with fire玩火,play with water玩水,play with balls玩球,這些短語中的介詞with不能丟。 play還有一些其他常見的用法和含義。 (5)play sth. for sb. = play sb. sth. 為某人播放 (6)play + sth. + on + 樂器 用某樂器演奏(某樂曲) 2. help sb. do sth. 與help sb. with sth. Can you help kids with swimming? 你能教孩子游泳嗎? Help sb. with sth. 此詞組的意思為“在某方面幫助某人”,還可以說help sb. do sth.。 如果上下文意義較明確時,兩個詞組可以互換。 注:在help sb. with sth. 結構中,with是介詞,故動詞應變?yōu)閐oing形式,doing相當于名詞,作介詞賓語。Can you help kids with swimming? =Can you help kids swim?3. Can的用法 can是英語中最常用的幾個情態(tài)動詞之一,它沒有人稱和數(shù)的變化,不能獨立作謂語,必須與主要的謂語動詞的原形連用。 can本身不表示動作,只表示體力或腦力方面的能力。例如: (1)I/ We/ You/ She/ He/ They can speak Chinese. 我/我們/你/你們/她/他/他們/會說漢語。can無人稱和數(shù)的變化,表示腦力方面的能力。 (2)I/We/You/She/He/They can carry the heavy box. 我/我們/你/你們/她/他/他們搬得動這個重箱子。表示體力方面的能力。 注:情態(tài)動詞本身無人稱和數(shù)的變化,后面的動詞用原形。 情態(tài)動詞的否定式由情態(tài)動詞加not構成,如:I/We/You/He/She/It/They cant swim. cant=can not 我/我們/你/你們/他/她/它/他們不會游泳。 情態(tài)動詞Yes/No問句的構成:將情態(tài)動詞can置于句首,后接句子的主語和主要謂語動詞即可。 如:Can you/he/she/it/they can swim? 你/他/她/它/他們會游泳嗎? Yes, I/he/she/it/they can. 是的,我/他/她/它/他們會游泳。 No, I/he/she/it/they cant. 不,不會。 can還可以與疑問詞一起用在特殊疑問句中。如: Who can swim?誰會游泳?
