The dress is easy to wash. Your handwriting is easy to recognize.it would be comfortable (for her ) to wear. It is easy for me to read主動形式表達被動概念The music is sweet to hear.The machine needs repairing“需要” 被動概念,用need,want和動名詞形式直接搭配Eg: The dictionary is worth buying.The book is worth reading.The house is under constructionThe puma is under control.The problem is under discussion.The thief is under arrest.介詞under可以表達被動的意味Eg: The airport came into use again.came into use:不及物動詞短語Our time has already gone to waste. (浪費掉,付諸東流)She is a respectable person. (被尊敬的人)-able 形容詞后綴,跟在動詞后表達“能夠被的“This is a returmable bottle.“由所組成”:consist of, comprise 本身表達被動概念,結構形式為主動。there was a knock on the front door: 人有敲門come in:進來straight:直接地,徑直地 if ever-ever用語條件句,表示任何時候,任何場合=when everEg: If ever you see George give him my best regards. When ever he is in trouble Ill be on the spot.Not wanting-分詞的否定結構形式,做原因狀語。多用于句首,也可插入句中,主謂之間。Eg: Not wanting to make her nervous, the doctor didnt fully explain the seriousness of her condition. = The doctor, not wanting to make her nervous, didnt fully explain the seriousness of her condition.read the metre: 查電表saying-現(xiàn)在分詞做伴隨狀語let out a cry 大叫了一聲=utter / give a cry.let out 發(fā)出=giveshout 高呼,高喊,有目的的shout to sb 對某人高聲喊shout at sb 對某人大喊大叫jump back several pases【Special difficulties】wear形容詞 + 動詞不定式he was delighted o learn that.I was glad to hear that.He was anxious to leave.感情形容詞后的不定式通常是表示原因,在句中做原因狀語happy, relieved, astonished, amazed, surprised, horrified, disappointed, sad, embarrassed, shockedHe was frightened when he saw the snake.He was frightened to see the snake.I was sorry when I learnt that.I was sorry to learnt that.不定式也可以放在表語之后,主語是不定式的實際賓語。The car is hard to park.Some questions are awkward to answer.在少數(shù)幾個動詞后,可用作結果不定式。learn, find, see, hear, be toldhe lived to see his inventions come to success.he woke up to find everyone gone.He went to his house only to find him out.在不定式前加only,表示意想不到的,出乎意料的結果.Eg: He hurried to the post office only to find it was shut (closed).八、Intensive reading精讀并回答問題What did the man expect to find under the stairs?After her husband had gone to work, Mrs Richards sent her children to school and went upstairs to her bedroom. She was too excited to do any housework that morning, for in the evening she would be going to a fancy dress party with her husband. She intended to dress up as a ghost and as she had made her costume the night before, she was impatient to try it on. Though the costume consisted only of a sheet, it was very effective. After putting it on, Mrs Richards went downstairs. She wanted to find out whether it would be comfortable to wear.Just as Mrs Richards was entering the dining-room, there was a knock on the front door. She knew that it must be the baker. She had told him to come straight in if ever she failed to open the door and to leave the bread on the kitchen table. Not wanting to frighten the poor man, Mrs Richards quickly hid in the small store-room under the stairs. She heard the front door open and heavy footsteps in the hall. Suddenly the door of the store-room was opened and a man entered. Mrs Richards realized that it must be the man from the Electricity Board who had come to read the meter. She tried to explain the situation, saying Its only me, but it was too late. The man let out a cry and jumped back several paces.
