Learn the new words and expressions : accident, situation, knife, decision, spirit, cut off, take risks, run out, keep on, etc. (aims of knowledge);2. Develop their reading skills: skimming, scanning and skills of finding the order of events to retell the story. (aims of competence);過程與方法:Discussion; Reading( Skimming; Scanning)情感態(tài)度價值觀:Students will be able to learn strong spirits from Aron Ralston: make good decisions, cherish life and never give up. Greeting: Hows the weather? What may happen in this kind of weather?Its heavy smog. People may fall down. People may have the car accident.2. Show some pictures about problems or accidents that can happen in our daily life.3. Lead in to the topic: mountain climbing What do you think of the mountain climbing?Step 2:Pre-reading (2min)Task 1:Introduce Aron Ralston brieflyTask 2: Look at the picture and the title and predict what we will read.Step 3:While-reading (15min)Task1: Underline the topic sentence of each paragraph and circle Step2, 3Purpose: With the help of the groups of the questions, to make students be clear about Arons real experiences and develop their reading skills.The pair-work here is to help students check their answers together and practice their cooperative learning skills.the key words. Match each paragraph with its main idea. Skimming (3min)Task2:Read the statements and circle True, False or Dont know (2c) Scanning (5min)Task 3: Reading the passage again and answer the questions.
