Asandstorm,alsoknownasaduststorm,isexactlywhat

itsoundslike.Averystrongwindstormespeciallyinthe

IntheUnitedStatesofAmerica,sandstormsarerarebecauseofthe

lackoflargedesertsandmoreimportantlythedevelopmentofproper

agriculturaltechniques.Thelastrecordeddestructivesandstormin

AmericanhistorywastheDustBowl,whichoccurredonJuly16,1971

andwaswidelyrecordedbymeteorologists(氣象學(xué)家).

【知識(shí)拓展】-ed形式的形容詞與-ing形式的形容詞

frightening,frightened是frighten的分詞形式,現(xiàn)已轉(zhuǎn)化成了形容詞,

frightening意為“令人驚恐的、恐怖的”,常用來(lái)說(shuō)明事物的性質(zhì)、特征。

frightened意為“恐懼的、害怕的、受驚的”,常用來(lái)說(shuō)明主語(yǔ)所處狀態(tài),

大多數(shù)都是指人所處狀態(tài)。兩者都可用作表語(yǔ)或定語(yǔ)。

⑴類(lèi)似的-ing形式的形容詞有:

exciting,interesting,disappointing,puzzling,surprising,shocking,

astonishing,moving,amusing,boring,encouraging,delighting,inspiring,

pleasing,tiring,worrying等。

(2)類(lèi)似的-ed形式的形容詞有:
