WhentheJapanesecutopenhisbody,theydiscoveredonlytreebark,cottonandgrassroots,butnotasinglegrainofriceinhisstomach.Yang’sdeathwasahugeblowtohisloyaltroops,buttheyturnedsorrowintoangerandcontinuedtofightfiercelyagainsttheinvaders.AfterthePeople’sRepublicofChina(PRC)

In1945hejoinedtheEighth
RouteArmyandinMarch1947hejoinedtheCommunistPartyofChina.On25May1948,thebattlefortheliberationofLonghuabegan,andthesoldiersoftheChinese
People’sLiberationArmy(PLA)floodedtowardsLonghuaMiddleSchool,theheadquartersoftheenemy.SixjetsoffirefromabridgeblockedthepathofthePLAtroops.Thebridgewasafortressbuiltbytheenemy,andthePLAtroops
werestuckunderasmallslope.Atthecriticalmoment,theyneededasoldiertoblowupthebridgeandopenanewroadforthewholearmy.
