springplantingofanewly-weddedcoupleagainstthebackgroundofatraditionalagriculturalcountry.InIrelandatthattime,mostpeoplestilldependedonfarmingforaliving,andthemaincropwasthepotato.Modernscienceandtechnologyhadnotyetcaughtupwiththeland.Therewaslittlemachinery.Practicallyeverythingwasstilldonebyhand.Atypicalfarmerbelievedintraditionalvirtues:hardwork,simpleliving,discipline,andaboveall,astrongsenseofresponsibility,
