任務實施IntroductionNavigationinthevehicleisaprocessthatthedriverusestogettotheirintendeddestinationbymeansofdirectionsorguidance.Inthepast,adriverwouldhavetodetermineorplanarouteusingpapermaps.Technologyhasmadethisjobeasierviadedicatedprogramsorwebsitesforrouteplanning.Theproblemisthataplannedroutemaybecompromisedduetotrafficconditions.Also,ifagivendirectionisaccidentallymissed,thentheprocessofgettingbacktotheoriginalroutecanbedifficultandtimeconsumingforthedriver.

Asolutionmadepossibleviadevelopmentsintechnologyis(seethefigure6.2.1).Thissystemuseselectronicmapsandoptimizedroute-calculationalgorithmsexecutedviaamicroprocessorforplanningthebestrouteaccordingtothedriver'srequirements.Thisroutecanbeofferedtothedriveronlineviaauserinterfaceprovidingaudibleandvisualinstructionsastheytravel(similartoaco-driver).改革創(chuàng)新示范教材14TheNavigation

任務實施BasicprincipleTheavailabilityofsignalsforpublicusefromGPSsatelliteshasmadenavigationsystemspossibleforgeneralrouteandpositionfinding.Forgeneraluse,theGPSsatellitestransmitsignalsallowingpositioninginformationtobeestablishedwithaccuraciesof±10metresandthisismorethansufficientforvehiclenavigationuse.GPSsatellitesweredevelopedandprovidedforUSmilitaryuseandthesignalsgeneratedproducehighlyaccuratepositioninformation.Notethoughthatthesehigh-accuracysignalsareencryptedandreservedformilitaryusetopreventabuseofthisusefulinformation.Thereare24satelliteswhichcircumnavigatetheearthevery12hoursinsixdifferentorbits(seeFigure6.2.2).Eachonetransmitsauniquesignalatapproximately50Hzwiththeirpositioninformationandatimesignal.Duetothedifferenttransittimesofthissignalfromeachsatellite,thesignalreceivedfromeachonehasatimeoffset.TheGPSreceiverinthenavigationsystemcalculatesthedatatransmissiontimebycomparisonwithitsowninternalclock.改革創(chuàng)新示范教材16Thenavigationsystem

任務實施ThispositioninformationcanbeestablishedviaGPSaslongasgoodcommunicationsignalscanbereceivedfromthesatellites.IftheconnectionbetweentheGPSreceiverandthesatellitesiscompromisedinanyway,thenreal-timepositioninformationwillbelost.Thesignalsmaybecompromiseddueto:thesurroundinglandscape,valleys,hillsetc.,tunnels,buildings.Tocounteracttheseproblems,vehiclenavigationsystemsuseanadditionalmethod
