IntheSeptemberof2000,IenteredUniversityofScienceandTechnologyofChinaandbecameamemberofphysicsdepartmentsincethen.Newenvironmentalwaysbringsunexpecteddifficulties,andgreatefforthasgivenbymetogetadapttothenewlife.Duringtheperiodofhardtrying,bothmyknowledgeandmymaturityhaveremarkablygrownandIfinallygotrankabove12%of140,withoverallGPA3.5/4.0,andmajorGPA3.8/4.0.MyhardworkingfinallyearnedmetheOutstandingStudentScholarshipin20xx.
Besidesenhancementofknowledgeinphysics,Ihavealsoaccumulatedagreatdealofknowledgeinchemistryandmaterialscience.Ihavegot95/101in“TheStructureandPropertiesinSolidandSolidStateChemistry”and87/101in“SolidStateOpticsandSpectroscopy”,amongthetopscoresinclass.Moreover,Ihavemadeefforttoimprovemyabilityinmathematicsandcomputersciencecautiously.(附加的段)
Mytwoyears’researchinStructureResearchLaboratoryofUSTChasbroughtmetoamoreextensiveandpracticalfieldofphysics.ServedasanundergraduateresearchassistantinProfessorXianhuiChen’sgroup,Ihavedevotedmostofmytimetotheresearchandmyknowledgeincondensedmatterphysicsanditsrelatedfieldshavegreatlyincreased.Ihaveobtainedallthebasicexperimentalskillsinaveryshorttimeandinordertokeepwiththepaceofthelatestachievementinmyresearchfield,Ihavespentalargeamountoftimeinreadingrelatedjournals,suchasAppl.Phys.Lett.,J.Appl.Phys.,Phys.Rev.B,Phys.Rev.Lett.,J.SolidStateChem.andsoon.
Atthebeginningof20xx,Ibeganmysystematicalworkinexploringthegrowingmethodandtransportpropertyinvestigationsinhole-dopedsinglecrystalBSLCO(Bi2Sr2-xLaxCuO4+y)seriesandelectron-dopedNCCO(Nd2-xCexCuO4-y)series.Myworkwasfocusedonthesinglecrystalpreparationandphysicalpropertymeasurement,especiallythetransportpropertyandmagneticproperties.Aftersomanytimesofattemptinthemeltingrangeanddescendingspeed,Isuccessfullygrewagreatdealofsinglecrystalswithhighquality.Moreover,Ihavespentsomanydaysandnightstogetherwithmycolleaguesinlabmeasuringtheresistanceofthesinglecrystalsunderzerofieldandhighfield.Duetothehighqualityofthecrystalsandourhardwork,wefinallyobtainedplentyofmeaningfuldataandbyanalyzingthenormalstateproperty,Ihavesubmittedapapertitled“Field-inducedlog(1/T)divergingresistivitydeviationfromnormalstateinsuperconductingcuprates”toPhys.Rev.Lett.in20xxasthethirdauthor.However,myworkwasnotstoppedandwithfurtherinvestigationinthe2Dweaklocalizationsystem,IhavesubmittedanotherpapertoEurophys.Lett.inOctober20xxasaco-author.
Besides,throughthework,Iobtainedalmostalltheskillsofmanipulationofthecorrespondinginstrumentsfromphysicalpreparationtocharacterization,suchasM.BraumGlove-Boxsystem(Germany),MORRISHighPressuresystem(Berkeley),RietveldandLebailRefinementofcrystalstructurefromXRDpattern,17TUltra-HighMagneticFieldsystem(OxfordScience),ACAssistanceBridge(LinerResearchInc.)sputteringandsoon.What’smore,Icanskillfullyusesoftware,(GSAS,FullProf,CELLPCPDFWINandetc),toanalyzethestructureofthematerialthroughX-raydiffractiondata.
Beyondtheachievementinresearch,thehappinessIgainedfromthecooperationwithothersandtheapproachofthephysicssciencewasgreater.Timesoffailuremakemebelievethatthepersistenceistheonlythingtomakepeoplegaintheirgoalsandtheresearchworkneedsactiveandcreativethinking.Ioftenhavediscussionwithothermembersinmygroupnotonlyonthecurrentencounteredproblembutalsoonthesomenewideasforresearch.Duringtheweeklygroupmeeting,weoftenexchangedourviewsonourcurrentresearchprojectandIhavelearnedalotthroughthiscommunication.
Meanwhile,Inevergiveupsearchingformoreextensiveandchallengingfield.Actually,someofmypresentworkisfrommyownidea.KnownthemisfitlayerofCoO2,Ihavegrownsomesinglecrystalsofhighlyefficientthermoelectricmaterials,suchasBi2Sr2Co2O,Bi2Sr2CoO6+y,Ca3Co4O9.......InordertofindtherelationshipbetweenthemisfitstructureofCoO2layerandthehighthermoelectricity,magneto-resistanceandmagneto-power,Ihaveinvestigatedthelow-temperaturetransport,thermalandmagneticproperties.Byreadinganumberofrelatedpapers,Iplantotakefurtherinvestigationofthesematerialsthroughtheirthermoelectricpotentialandotherrelatedmeasurements.
Withgreatinterestinnanoscience,Ihavepaidextraattentiontotheupdatetechniqueinsynthesizingthenanowiresandnanoparticles.BothfromthecorrespondingbooksinthisfieldandexperienceofthePhDstudentsinmygroup,Igraspedanumberofmethods,suchasmicro-emulsion,hydrothermalmethod,sol-gelandothersoftchemicalwaystosynthesizethenanoscalematerials.Undertheavailablecondition,IamsynthesizingthenanoscalesuperconductingmaterialYBCOandnanowiresofmagneticmaterials,suchasLa0.5Ba0.5MnO3.
MoreandmoredoIrealizetheimportanceofcollaboration,duringmyexploringofthenovelpolycrystallineCo1212andFe1212.Thesampleswerereportedbysomegrouptobesuperconductingonlyifitisannealedundertheextremepressure.Ihavemeasuredthetransportpropertyofthecrystalsandobservedsomeabnormalphasetransitionofsuperconductivity.However,becauseofthelimitationofexperimentalcondition,oursamplescannotbecomesuperconducting.Inordertosolvetheproblem,wecooperatedwithInstituteofPhysicsofChinaAcademicSciencetoobtaintheextremepressure.TwopapersofmyworkonCo1212havebeensubmittedtotheinternationaljournalslatethisyear,andIwasthesecondauthor.Inthiscase,Irealizedthecooperationwithinandwithoutagroupisequallyimportant,andsometimesaccomplishmentisgainedunderseveralgroupsofpeople.WealsohavedonesomeworkinYBCOthinfilmtransportproperty,collaboratedwithprofessorC.L.ChenofSuperconductingCenterTexas,U.S.A.
Inaddition,Ihavealsoattendedsomeofothersub-group’sresearchproject,suchasusingsol-gelmethodtogrowRu1212,NaCoO2transportpropertyinvestigationandcolossalmagnetoresistancematerialspreparation.What’smore,Ihavealsoattendedthe7thNationalSuperconductivityConferenceandNationalAnnualConferenceofPhysicsin20xx.Mykenwasgreatlyenlargedbyhearingthereportoftheattendanceandmyconfidenceinmyresearchwasincreasedatthesametime.
Researchinterestandfutureplan
Materialofscienceandengineeringisconcernedwiththestudyofstructure,propertiesandapplicationsofmaterials.Duringmytwoyears’researchinStructureResearchLaboratory,Ihaveaccumulatedplentyofknowledgeintherelatedareaofmaterialscience,andmeanwhilemyabilityindoingresearchisgreatlyproved.Inthepastwork,Ihavedonequitealotinsynthesisaswellascharacterization,andIhavealsodealwithdifferentclassesofmaterials,suchaselectronic,magnetic,superconductingandsoon.Ibelieve,aimedwithstrongfoundationofphysics,theappropriateareaformetotakeresearchworkwillbemoreextensive.
Theareaofinterestisjustasfollowing:
1.Ihavereadalotofcorrespondingpapersinmagneticrecordingresearch,andIhavegreatinterestinthiskindofmaterials.Ibelieveresearchinthisareaisimportantbothforbasicstudiesoftheeffectsofdimensionalityandinteractions,andforthefutureofmagneticrecording.Hence,Iwishtodosomeworkinsynthesisandprocessingofthiskindofmaterials.
2.Becausenanomaterials,suchascarbonnanotubes,nanoparticles,quantumdots,nano-porousstructures,andnano-electronicsdevicematerials,aretheessentialpartofthecurrentandfuturenano-basedtechnologies.Ihopeverymuchtocontinuemyfutureresearchworkinthisarea.
3.Moreover,Iamalsointerestedinthestructuralmaterial,suchasadvancedengineeringmaterials,whichcharactersmaybechangedrespondingtothedifferentmechaniccondition.SoIthinkIalsohopetodotherelatedresearchinanalysisofmaterialsproperty.
MyfutureplanistopursuemyPhDdegreeinmaterialscienceandengineering.Infact,thoughthetechnologyisdevelopingatatremendousspeed,thereisstillalotofprogressremainingtobemade.Forinstance,nanoscaledevices,eitherassembledlithographicallyorchemically,willhaveahighprobabilityoffailure.Therefore,anyarchitecturebuiltfromlargenumbersofnanoscaledeviceswillnecessarilycontainalargenumberofdefects,whichfluctuateontimescalescomparabletothecomputationcycle.Furthermore,deeperinsightshouldbegivenintotheconstraintsimposedbynano-devices,especiallycarbonnanotube-baseddevices,bymodelingthedevicesandcorrespondingarchitectures.Suchaframeworkcancontributetowardsbuildingmorepowerfulnano-probes,nano-computerandefficientpowerfuel-cells.
WhyIChooseUCSD

留學(xué)德國入境留意事項
一、簽證
你辦的德國的短期簽證的有效期應(yīng)當要和你在德國停留的期限是相同的,也就是你的簽證的到期日是你離開德國境內(nèi)的日期,所以要在簽證的有效期內(nèi)出入境德國。你辦的簽證的種類應(yīng)當是和你真實去德國的目的是一樣的,比方假如是到德國去讀書的學(xué)生應(yīng)當是辦理留學(xué)簽證。
二、允許攜帶物品
現(xiàn)金:到德國去規(guī)定可以帶的現(xiàn)金必需要在10100歐元以內(nèi),這個范圍的數(shù)值包括了股票、支票和珍貴金屬,假如所攜帶的現(xiàn)金超過了10100歐元的話,要去書面申報。
藥品:假如是個人運用的藥品是可以攜帶的,你也可以寫藥品的申報單為了防止出什么麻煩,申報單要供應(yīng)三種語言的有德、法、英語。
免稅消費品:假如是個人運用的話是可以攜帶限量的煙酒和咖啡的,對于攜帶的香煙不能超過200支或者是煙草不能超過250克,攜帶的烈酒不能超過1升或者是啤酒不能超過16升。
三、制止攜帶物品
在沒有經(jīng)過入境許可就帶動植物入境的話是會被罰款的,對于冒牌貨假如是只用的話是不會被罰款的,但是假如你攜帶的數(shù)量過多的話還是會帶來一些麻煩。對于毒品、麻醉劑以及武器,還有盜版的書籍和軟件都是不能攜帶入境的。
四、入境材料
對于要去德國讀書的學(xué)生在入境前要把入境的資料都放在自己的身上攜帶,不要放在行李箱里面去托運,因為在行李的托運過程中有一些檢查要做,檢查的時候須要供應(yīng)有關(guān)證件資料。這些資料包括:
1、有效的簽證和護照;
2、機票;
3、能夠證明在德國停留期間的住址和聯(lián)系電話,還有在德國的聯(lián)系人的地址和電話也要供應(yīng);
4、要供應(yīng)進入德國境內(nèi)的邀請函或者是德國的學(xué)校給你發(fā)的錄用書。這些材料都是在進入德國的海關(guān)的時候會要求出示并且檢查的。
