1、1.Humanrelationshipswouldbecomedifficultwithoutforgiveness.Itsanecessityforbuildingharmoniousrelationshipsandachievingourownwell-being.Veryoftenwemaythinkthatwevebeenhurttoodeeplytoforgive.Butironically,Itsthoseofuswhovebeenmosthurtthatreallyneedtoforgive.Forthetruthisthatunlesswecanforgive,wecannev

2、errecover.Forsomepeopleforgivenessseemsimpossiblebecausetheyhavenoideahowtogoaboutit.Thefirstandmostimportantthingyouneedtorememberisthattheactofforgivenessisnotgoingtobeeasy.Infact,itwillprobablybethehardestthingmostofuseverhavetodo.Itseemstotallyunfairthatweshouldhavetoforgivewhenweretheoneswhohav

3、ebeenhurt.Andthatsthecentralandmostimportantpartofforgiveness.Thatswhy,sometimes,theinitialactofforgivenessmayseemrelativelyeasy,butdealingwiththeemotionscanbeharder.Trueforgivenessisnotaone-offact,itsaconstantemotionalconfrontation.Soifyouthinkyourerightandcantfinditinyourselftoforgive,askyourselft

4、hisquestion:wouldyouratherberightorhappy.2.Manyofushavereadinterestingandexcitingstoriesinwhichthemaincharacterhasonlyalimitedtimetolive.Suchstoriessetusthinking,wonderingwhatweshoulddoundersimilarcircumstances.SometimesIhavethoughtitwouldbeanexcellentruletoliveeachdayasifweshoulddietomorrow.Suchana

5、ttitudewouldemphasizesharplythevalueoflife.Weshouldliveeachdaywithagentleness,avigor,andakeennessofappreciationwhichareoftenlostwhentimestretchesbeforeusintheconstantpanoramaofmoredaystocome.Mostofustakelifeforgranted.Weseldomthinkofit.Wegoaboutourpettytasks,hardlyawareofourlistlessattitudetowardsli

6、fe.Thesamelistlessnesscharacterizestheuseofourfacultiesandsenses.Onlythedeafappreciatehearing,onlytheblindrealizetheblessingsthatlieinsight.Butthosewhohaveneversufferedlossofsightorhearingdamageseldommakethefullestuseoftheseblessedfaculties.Ihaveoftenthoughtitwouldbeablessingifeachhumanbeingwerestri

7、ckenblindanddeafforafewdaysatsometimeduringhisearlyadultlife.Darknesswouldmakehimmoreappreciativeofsight;silencewouldteachhimthejoysofsound.3.Theresadifferencebetween“beingawriter”andwritings.Asamatteroffact,manywhowishtobewritersarelongingforwealthandfame,notthelonghoursaloneatthetype-writer.Theyar

8、enotawareofthefactthatwritingisalonely,privateandpoor-payingaffair.IrememberwhenIbecameafreelancewriter,Ihadnoprospectsatall.WhatIdidhavewasafriendandasmallstorageroominanapartmentbuilding.Itdidntevenmatterthatitwascoldandnobathroom.ImmediatelyIboughtausedmanualtypewriterandplungedmyselfintowriting.

9、Afterayearorso,however,Istillhadntreceivedabreakandbegantodoubtmyself.ThenonedayIwasofferedajobearning6000ayear.Asthedollarsweredancinginmyhead,somethingclearedmysenses.Fromdeepinsideabull-headedresolutionwelledup.Iheardmyselfsaying,“Imgoingtostickitoutandwrite.”Irealizedthatyouhadtomakesacrificesan

10、dlivecreativelytokeepworkingatyourdreams.Then,in1970,17yearsafterIlefttheCoastGuard,Rootswaspublished.Theshadowshadturnedintodazzlinglimelight.4.Optimismandpessimismarepowerfulforces,andeachofusmustchoosewhichwewant,soastoshapeouroutlookandourexpectations.Fromwhichperspectivedowewanttoviewlife?Willw

11、elookupinhopeordownindespair?Anoptimisticattitudeisnotaluxury;itsanecessity.Thewayyoulookatlifewilldeterminehowyoufeel,perform,andhowwellyouwillgetalongwithothers.Conversely,negativethoughts,attitudes,andexpectationsfeedonthemselves;theybecomeaself-fulfillingprophecy.Pessimismcreatesasadandhopelessp

12、lacewherenoonewantstolive.Whentheworldisseenasahopeful,positiveplace,peoplearemorelikelytoachieve.Optimismdoesntneedtobenaive.Youcanbeanoptimistandstillrecognizethatproblemsexistandthatsomeofthemarenotdealtwitheasily.Yetoptimismmakesadifferenceintheattitudeoftheproblemsolver!Optimismdrawsourattentio

13、nawayfromnegativismandchannelsitintopositive,constructivethinking.Whenyoureanoptimist,youremoreconcernedwithproblem-solvingthanwithuselessfault-finding.Totackleabigproblem,oneneedsbothoptimismandpersistence.5.Whatischaracter?Characteriscomposedofthoseprinciplesandvaluesthatgiveourlifedirection,meani

14、nganddepth.Theseconstituteourinnersenseofwhatsrightandwrongbasednotonlawsorrulesofconductbutonwhoweare.Theyincludesuchtraitsasintegrity,honesty,courage,fairnessandgenerositywhichareformedinthelongprocessoflife.Sowrongissimplyindoingwrong,notingettingcaught.Yetsomepeoplewonderifourinnervaluesmatteran

15、ymore.Afterall,haventmanypeoplesucceededineveryvisibleway,despitetheirmoralweakness?Thisquestiondemonstratesadilemmaofourmodernlife.Manyhavecometobelievethattheonlythingsweneedforsuccessaretalent,energyandpersonality.Successhasbecomemoreafunctionofcharm,skillsandtechniquesthatlubricatetheprocessofhu

16、maninteraction.Insteadofmakingeffortstodealwithdifficultissuesofrightandwrong,weturnedtomakingthingsgosmoothly.ButmanynotedfigureshavetaughtusthatwhoweareismoreImportantthanwhoweappeartobeandwecanonlyexperiencetruesuccessandhappinessbymakingcharactertheguidelineofourlives.Whileskilliscertainlyneeded

17、forsuccess,itcanneverguaranteehappinessandfulfillment.6.Creativepeoplehaveagreatdealofphysicalenergy,buttheyarealsooftenquietandatrest.Theycanworklonghourswithgreatconcentrationwhileremainingfreshandenthusiasticallthetime.Whennecessary,theycanfocusitlikealaserbeam;whennot,creativetypesimmediatelyrec

18、hargetheirbatteries.Creativepeopleseemabletousewelltwooppositewaysofthinking:theconvergentandthedivergent.Convergentthinkinginvolvessolvingwell-defined,rationalproblemsthathaveonecorrectanswer.Divergentthinkinginvolvestheabilitytogenerateagreatquantityofideas,ortheabilitytoswitchfromoneperspectiveto

19、another.Incurrentpsychologicalresearch,extroversionandintroversionareconsideredtobethemoststablepersonalitytraitsthatdistinguishpeoplefromeachother.Creativeindividualsseemtoexhibitbothtraitsatthesametime.Mostcreativepeopleareverypassionateabouttheirwork,yettheycanbeextremelyobjectiveaboutitaswell.Wi

20、thoutthepassion,wesoonloseinterestinadifficulttask.Yetwithoutbeingobjectiveaboutit,ourworkmaysufferandlackcredibility.Perhapsthemostimportantquality,theonethatismostconsistentlypresentinallcreativeindividuals,istheabilitytoenjoytheprocessofcreationforitsownsake.7.Inmanyjobinterviews,acommonquestioni

21、swhethertheintervieweeisa“teamplayer”.Butwhatdoesbeingateamplayerreallymean?Onthemostbasiclevel,ateamplayerissomeonewhocanworkwithinagroupofpeople.Thereforeitisanessentialrequirementofanyemploymentthatanypotentialemployeeisateamplayer.Onadeeperlevel,ateamplayerissomeonewhocanplayaroleintheteam,toach

22、ieveandsupportthegoalssetandagreeduponbytheteam.Everymemberoftheteamshouldhavespecificrolesandresponsibilitiesinviewofachievingtheircommongoals.Thesuccessoftheteamreliescompletelyoneverymemberoftheteamcarryingouttheirrolesandresponsibilitiesinlinewiththedirectionoftheleader.Beingateamplayerdoesnotme

23、anthatyoudonothaveanyideasofyourown.Itdoesnotmeanyoushouldalwaysagreewiththerestoftheteam.Dontbeafraidtooffernewideasevenseeminglycrazyones.Everyoneintheteamshouldfeelfreetocomeupwithnewideasandnotworryaboutthembeingdismissed.8.Manyclaimunhappyandterriblechildhoodexperiences“damage”peopleintheiradul

24、tyears.Butresearchershavediscoveredthismaynotnecessarilybetrue.Theynotethatintensedifficulties,hardshipsandmajorobstaclesareoftenmajorcontributorstosuccess.Theymaintainthatdifficultchildhoodsdoleavesomepeoplewoundedanddisadvantaged,butforothers,atoughchildhoodactuallydrivesthemtooutrageousachievementandsuccess.
