Chemical Engineering appeals to me because of the challenges involved in the application of scientific theory to practical, real world problems s
2、uch as how to deal with nuclear waste. I particularly look forward to studying fluid dynamics as I was introduced to this during the Engineering Education Scheme (EES). I am aware that in todays world chemical engineering has an increasingly important role across a wide range of industries from phar
3、maceuticals to petrochemicals. The broad range of career paths, and the opportunity to contribute to society through technological innovation, is for me, one of the main attractions of chemical engineering. I have applied to take part in the Year In Industry scheme during which I hope to gain practi
4、cal experience, as well as greater maturity enabling me to go into my degree course with improved skills and broader experience. I also hope to study e-learning courses on project management and presentation skills run by the IChemE. In Year 12 I took part in the EES, which improved my understanding
5、 and skills in team working, time management, and report writing, as well as visual and oral presentation. Throughout the course of the project the team had to frequently correspond with mentors in industry and academia and this experience has broadened my appreciation of practice and application in
6、 a real life situation. In July I attended a week-long Into Engineering seminar run by REACT Engineering. Working in two teams, we were given a design exercise based upon a typical decommissioning project. I also attended a Headstart course at Newcastle University, which I thoroughly enjoyed. One of
7、 the main activities was to design, manufacture and test a small crane. I found both of these experiences very challenging, as we were given only limited time so we had to prioritise our tasks and carefully plan our work.This year a fellow student and I were awarded 500 by the European Scholarship P
8、rize to fund a visit to Prague to do research for our A-level History coursework. I gained an understanding of the citys culture and history and further developed my independence. During the summer I represented my school on a Connexions review of a government white paper on 14-19 education. I gaine
9、d an insight into the governments proposals and learned a lot about working with different groups of people. Last year I was part of the editorial team for the school magazine. I wrote a number of articles and I was responsible for ensuring that staff contributions were ready for the deadline. I als
10、o enjoy participating in a range of sports and have represented the school at football and cricket, which has further enhanced my team working skills.In my spare time I am working towards my Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award. In September I completed a 4-day expedition in the Lake District, which tested
11、my endurance but gave me a great sense of achievement. As part of the award I have been helping at the local youth caf once a week, which I am really enjoying as it gives me the chance to meet new people. I also enjoy reading, particularly books on physics and Russian history. I am really interested
12、 in computers and I am currently trying to configure a Linux based file and print server for my home network. For admission to a university in England you have to fill in a form from the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS). They for a very reasonable fee provide all applicants to unv
13、ersities and colleges in the UK with a way to apply to up to 6 universities (or multiple courses at, say 3 universities). Part of the form (apart from all the obvious details such as name and address), is half a page where you are asked to write about yourself, your interests and so on. Inevitably y
14、ou have to make it sound as good as possible, as youre trying to sell yourself to the universities youre applying to.I applied to the universities of Aston, Bath, Bristol, Cambridge, Imperial College London, and Loughborough. All for an MEng (Master of Engineering degree) in Chemical Engineering, ex
15、cept for Bristol where I went for an MEng in Computer Science, so this is tailored towards those courses. Anyway. Here it is. I dont guarantee that you wont get bored! ;-). (NB this was written in the summer of 1999, and is therefore not too current!).Reasons for Course Choice Since beginning second
16、ary school, Ive been very interested in Chemistry and Computing. Besides my normal schoolwork Ive read around these two subjects. Because I am also very keen on Mathematics and Physics, I want to pursue a degree course that combines all or most of these. Both of my parents are ScienceEngineering gra
17、duates and they have taught me some of the qualities needed for a degree course in this field. This has encouraged me to find out about the opportunities available. Aims I have applied to several firms for sponsorship while at university and during a gap year, with the intention of getting Engineeri
18、ng-related work experience. This would give me valuable experience for the course at university. I hope to obtain a Master of Engineering degree and become employed in research and development in the oil or food industry. Eventually, I would like to do postgraduate study, and perhaps even teach Chem
19、istryEngineering. Interests I play basketball, tennis, volleyball, and I like kayaking. By far my biggest sports interest, however, is orienteering. Ive won several trophies for Andalusian and league championships, and Ive helped to organise regional orienteering events. I have also designed the dat
20、abase system for my club. My greatest interest outside school is computing. I have done a large amount of web design. I help maintain the computer systems at my fathers workplace; and I also do some part time work teaching people on a one-to-one basis how to use their computers. I like writing manua
21、ls or notes on things related to computers, and have published an article on web design in a small US computer magazine. I have written papers on the use of data-logging and other equipment for my schools science department. This year, I was responsible for laying out my schools entire yearbook usin
22、g DTP software. Recently, I was employed developing a web site and training staff for an organisation in London. When I have time I play the keyboard, and also do some sound engineering: I used to operate the mixing desk at my local church, as well as help at my parents workplace, which is a profess
23、ional recording studio. I enjoy teaching and have given weekly tuition in Maths and English. General Points Ive lived in Spain for 14 years and am fluent in Spanish. In addition, my parents work with North Africans, Middle Easterners, Americans, Spaniards, Britons, and people of other nationalities.
24、 I have gained valuable experience growing up with many different cultures around me, and as a result appreciate the difficulties of cross-cultural communication. I have been part of several Kings Kids, teams which perform music and dance all over Spain. This entailed travelling away from home for 3
25、 weeks at a time, and having to work with around 60 other people. I think that this has made me a fairly rounded person, and I therefore feel confident about fitting in with people from any culture. 26、修生,很多時候我們也把日本的“研究生”定義為:碩士預科生。日本研究生編制不一定屬于碩士生院,實際上很多日本大學把“研究生”劃入大學部?!把芯可彪A段很難申請到獎學金及學費減免。在日本“碩士”的正式名稱為“修士”,也叫“博士前期”。 二、設置“研究生”編制有什么意義 設置“研究生”編制可以讓導師與學生在這個階段中相互熟悉及對學生能力水平的考核過程。對不是從本校或者本國畢業(yè)的本科畢業(yè)生來說,這個階段有助學生掌握一些研究所需要的基本知識及手段(尤其是各個學校的專業(yè)、日本留學申請,天道日本留學怎么樣課程設置與當前研究方向不一致的時候)。對外國留學生而言,研究生階段還可以幫助留學生盡快適應國外生活、渡過
27、語言關。 三、申請日本研究生留學的條件 1、對于選擇就讀日本研究生(大學院)留學的留學生,首先要擁有本科學士學位文憑、在國內參加過日語學習,建議有日本語能力考試(N1)一級證書、托福考試(IBT)80分以上的學生,也可以提供在校的各種獲獎證書、榮譽證明等。 2、申請日本大學院需要提交如學歷證明、外語能力證明、研究計劃書等申請材料。 3、同時,您的擔保人也要提供定期存款的銀行證明等相關文件,日本留學申請,天道日本留學怎么樣以確保學生能有充足的資金在日本學習及生活等所用。 4、研究計劃書成為大學院申請的關鍵。因為除了準備基本的申請材料外,您所申請的教授能看到的個性化材料就是研究計劃書。研究計劃書寫

29、者是10月份的時候入學入學之后進行一年左右的準備學習,研究生在所屬研究室作為聽課生學習有關的內容,而且協(xié)助指導老師進行相關的研究,指導老師在掌握了學生研究能力和人品以后,決定是否收該生為碩士或者是博士生。 要想得到留學簽證作為研究生,在大學學習每一個禮拜的聽課時間必須有十個小時以上,不論是研究生的申請,還是碩士博士課程的申請,日本留學申請,天道日本留學怎么樣指導老師的決定都起到關鍵性的作用,因此事先取得指導教師的同意是特別重要的。 申請研究生首先必須得到導師的肯許。日本大學里,導師對研究生以上學生的招生有特別大的決定權,如果事先沒有得到導師經受的,即使你直接向大學院招生處提出入學申請,大學院也
30、不會根據你的情況為你指定專業(yè)或研究室。也就是說,在沒有獲得導師同意下,大學院不會輕易經受學生的單獨申請。反過來,如果你已經得到導師的肯許,再通過導師向大學院提出入學申請的話,成功率將特別之高。如果教授同意接收你這個學生,那么就能夠順利的讀研了,并且可以同時申請多所大學院,很多會同時被報考的幾所大學錄取,大家只要選擇自己喜歡的學?;蛘呤菍I(yè)去讀研就可以了。 五、教授聯(lián)系e-mail技巧及申請過程中需要用到的各種證明 可能的話可以適當與教授探討專業(yè)心得、前景展望等話題。必須適時向教授證實以下幾個關鍵問題: (1)自己具有相當?shù)恼Z言能力,能夠與周圍的人正常交流。比如提供日語學時證明、日語等級證書等(
31、建議在赴日前達到日語2級水平,否則學習、打工都會遇到很大困難)。 (2)經濟狀況良好,能夠承擔你在日學習期間的所有開支。比如收入證明、納稅證明、已獲得的留學期間獎學金等。 (3)有一定的專業(yè)水平。比如大學期間成績單、專業(yè)論文發(fā)表情況、研究成果以及上面說到的推薦信等。 (4)家庭穩(wěn)定、身體狀況良好,不會影響你在日期間的學習,比如健康證明。 (5)確定表明自己畢業(yè)后將回國,為中日友好做奉獻的意愿。 六、如何獲得導師肯許 如果你有親友正好認識你想申請的導師,或者正好認識這個學校的其他導師,那通過他們介紹是最理想不過。如果你沒有關系的話也不必擔心,跟著以下步驟來。 (1)上網查找日本各個大學的網站,看
32、看是否有適合自己的專業(yè)。 (2)找到合適的專業(yè)后,進入這個專業(yè)的研究室主頁或這個學院的員工介紹頁面,查找有關教授的聯(lián)系方式(Email、電話、通信地址等等)。 (3)察看學校招生簡章并確認自己符合申請資格。 (4)給教授發(fā)mail介紹自己的專業(yè)、特長、學習、工作經歷等基本情況,并表示希望對方能夠經受你做研究生。盡可能在郵件中附上有關證明材料,有研究成果或專業(yè)論文附上原文及檢索地址。 (5)請自己在國內的教授、專業(yè)知名人士或者高級官員為你寫推薦信給對方。也可以事先請有關人士寫好后與申請mail一同發(fā)送給對方。推薦信可以是打印件,但一定要有推薦人的親筆署名及蓋章。 (6)等待教授回音。 (7)教授
33、表示想進一步了解有關情況的時候,說明教授對你感興趣,這時應按時向教授索取通信地址,并將各種證明文件復印件郵寄給對方。 (8)獲取入學通知書申請在留資格取得在留資格許可申請簽證赴日。申請過程中必須與教授保持聯(lián)系,并在教授指導下一步步提供各種所需材料。 七、申請日本研究生兩種方法的優(yōu)劣勢 在申請日本研究生留學的時候,一般有兩種方法,“研究生”和“語言學?!薄那懊娴臄⑹龅奈覀円呀浿廊毡镜摹把芯可?其實并不是中國的研究生,而是指碩士預科(即中國的研究生預科,或者可以理解為旁聽生)?!把芯可本妥x期間,跟正常碩士生一起,參加教授的課程,參加學校的科研活動,一年后參加本學校的碩士生考試。而“語言學校
34、”就是獨力的教授日本語的學校,針對于本科畢業(yè)生的語言學校通常囊括日本語教學和考研輔導兩個方面的內容。很多學生就是糾結在這兩種選擇之中,今天就給大家總結一下申請日本的研究生和語言學校的優(yōu)劣勢。 1、在國內直接“研究生”的優(yōu)勢與劣勢 優(yōu)勢: (1)一步到位。用很多學生的話說,以研究生的身份過去踏實,畢竟大部分的研究生可以優(yōu)先錄取到本學校的碩士生。雖然像某一流大學的研究生招生簡章上面確定寫有“研究生在參加碩士生考試時,不享有任何的優(yōu)先錄取權。”。但是說句良心話,畢竟和教授接觸的機會多,互相了解,旁聽的內容常常就是考試重點,近水樓臺先得月,自然考試也會占上不少便宜,大大提高了錄取比率。 (2)專業(yè)知識
35、的鞏固。中國和日本的教學方式真的不一樣,雖然我在國內沒有上過研究生和大學,而中國大學畢業(yè)的論文和我考研究生時候的研究計劃書比起來,簡直天壤之別。日本對于專業(yè)知識的掌握度要求更高,學術理論的敘述上更嚴謹,更專業(yè)。上過一年研究生的學生,在專業(yè)度上絕對占有優(yōu)勢,每天耳聞目睹,從前輩身上能學到不少東西。 劣勢: (1)沒有日本語課程。研究生畢竟是在大學院里面學習,即使可以旁聽到一些比如日本語教育專業(yè)中的日本語課程,其實并不是系統(tǒng)化的學習,基礎不扎實,很難短時間內提升日本語水平,更有甚者,無法跟上老師的授課進度,中途退出學習。 (2)門檻高。從中國直接申請研究生,并沒有大家想的那么簡單。因為從中國直接申請研究生,教授完全是從學生的材料情況來判斷學生,比如通常是211、985院校畢業(yè),日本語二級以上,(有的要求日語一級) 。托福成績80以上,大學成績平均分80以上等等。所以有的時候導致學生特別優(yōu)秀但發(fā)了很多郵件給導師但結果是了無音訊。很多時候特別優(yōu)秀的學生卻被淘汰下來,甚至有的耽誤半年時間才能再申請。 2、通過語言學校
