6、 sp ecific description of how a condemned man, a Hindu, was guarded and escorted to the gallows and how he was hanged. Then, some anecdotes are presented and some events described, which p rovide food for thought. Evide ntly, the eve nts are orga ni zed mai niy in the order of their occurre nee, fol

It is to be no ted that Paragra phs 9-14 make up the climax of the story.Also, it is not to be overlooked that the first -person n arratio n is ado pted, which renders the events described or narrated more vivid, objective and believable, and which makes it po ss
8、ible and convenient for the n arrator to put across his own thoughts and feeli ngs in the pro cess of n arrati on.
