Its a great honor and pleasure to be here sharing my lesson with you. My topic is taken from New Senior English Book 2, Module 2 No Drugs. Teaching methods VI. Teaching aidsVII. Teaching procedures IAnalysis of the reading materialThe reading in this module shows the dangers of taking drugs through listing the facts of drug taking. For the sake of the health of human beings, the text gives us an example of a teenager who takes drugs.The passage is very important in educating the teenagers to take care of their lives.II. Analysis of the Ss:With the approaching of the world anti-drug day, a campaign called “ Stay away from drugs; cherish your health” is being held in many schools. Students are familiar with some knowledge and expressions about this topic, so their interests can be easily aroused.III. Learning aims:1. Knowledge aims:(1) To be able to accumulate some words or expressions about smoking and express them easily.(2) To learn how to deal with difficult sentences (3) To get to know how to put what they learned into practice.2. Ability aims:(1) To improve the ability about listening, speaking ,reading, and writing.(2) To use scanning, skimming to obtain and deal with information.(3) To improve the ability of co-operation and solving problems individually3. Emotion aims (1) To know the dangers of smoking and taking drugs; to keep away from drugs and take care of their lives.(2) To enjoy the happiness of learning English with classmates.4. Cultural awarenessTo learn to increase the awareness of self-protection, and stay away from drugs.5. Learning strategiesTo develop the ability to analyze; to learn how to express different emotions using appropriate tone of voice. IV. Important and difficult points1. Teaching ImportanceTo let the students know the words, phrases, and sentence patterns about taking drugs and stopping taking drugs.2. Teaching DifficultiesAnalysis of important sentences:1. Users who inject the drug are also in more danger if they share needles with other users.2. Smoking crack cocaine also causes anti-social behaviour.V. Leading- inAt the beginning of the class, I will bring up a question: what is a truly healthy person like? A truly healthy person is someone who is healthy in both body and mind. After that, I ll show the Ss some pictures and see if they are healthy or not. Meanwhile, they have a brainstorming: what harmful effects does taking drugs have? Aims: to arouse the Ss interest in the topic and to encourage them to express themselves in English.Step2. Fast reading:Task one:Since taking drugs has so many disadvantages, we are supposed to keep away from drugs. There are two articles on P12. I will ask Ss to read them fast and choose the best title for them. A Drug Addict and His Story Dangerous Activities of Teenagers The Dangers of Using CocaineTask two:We have just read the first paragraph of the two articles. Now Lets come to the rest parts of them. Ss are supposed to read parts 1-6 on P13 and decide which articles they belong to. Article 2:The Dangers of Using Cocaine Article 1:The Story of a Drug Addict Aims: to improve their skimming skills and grasp the main idea of the two articles.Step3. Careful reading:Now we have got the main information of the two articles. Lets come to the details. I will ask the Ss to read Article 1 and decide the developing order of Adams story. Adam started _using_ drugs. He was addicted to drugs, but he had no money.He stole something to pay for the drugs.He was taken by the police to the police station.He took the doctors advice and stopped taking drugs. He now works in a center to help drug addicts.We have know Adams story. Now lets see the dangers of taking drugs. The Ss are supposed to read Article 2 and answer this question: what are the dangers of taking drugs?allow cocaine to reach the brain and hurt it increase the heart rate and the blood pressurehave heart attackscause anti-social behavior, such as stealinghave bad side effects: AIDSAims: to know how to describe an experience in time order; to get important information while reading carefully; to increase the Ss awareness of keeping away from drugs.Step4. Language pointsIn this step, I will show the students two sentences and let them discuss in groups to analyze the structures of the sentences.1. After reading-role playIn this step, the Ss are supposed to work in pairs. One student acts as Adam, and another one acts as an journalist.
