It will establish a defined level of guest expectation and a means to measure and maintain a basic level of quality at every Crowne Plaza Hotel. For potential investors and owners of Crowne Plaza properties, this document defines the commitment to quality of Crowne Plaza Hotels. For architects and other design professionals, this information is a guide to assist in the design process for the construction and renovation of Crowne Plaza properties. Potential Owners can refer to this document to identify the extent of work / cost required for the conversion of existing properties to the Crowne Plaza brand. Building owners and their design professionals must meet or exceed these criteria. When specific design issues are not addressed, these Standards are to be used as a guide to establish design intent in order to develop innovative design solutions and which meet or, as governed by market forces, exceed the intent of the Standards. This guest is an experienced traveller who can easily discern even small variances in service, facilities provided and quality of fit-out. When certain design issues are not specifically addressed, the user is encouraged to review the criteria of the Standards which most closely resemble that issue for the overall design intent. Design of new and renovated hotels shall comply with the latest Standards available. Should these Standards be changed or modified during the design process, these changes shall be incorporated into the structure to the maximum extent possible. After completion of construction or renovation, compliance with any modifications made to these Standards will not be immediate, but will be required on a specific timetable. This means that, unless there is a physical barrier or significant economic hardship, compliance is mandatory. In cases of physical barrier or hardship, alternate methods to comply with the spirit of the Standard shall be pursued. The goal is to achieve equivalent quality as perceived by guests and / or a solution which comes as close as possible to the described or intended result. In some sections these Standards indicate a recommendation in lieu of a requirement. Conflicts may occur with other provisions of these or other Crowne Plaza Standards or with other requirements such as building codes.
