Classics are the antiques of the literary world.,Charles Dickens was born on 7 February 1812 in Portsmouth, England. He had a happy childhood after his family moved to Chatham. At the age of 12, Dickens had to leave school because his father was imprisoned for debt. The poverty and adversity Dickens experienced as a child greatly influenced his later views on social reform. The skills require practice, but once you have got the hang of them youll find you can get through a substantial amount of reading in quite a short time. These reading methods make it easier for you to grasp large amounts of material, especially when youre previewing. They are also useful when you dont need to know every word.,略讀(skimming)只看文章標題、下標題以及每個部分或者段落第一行,關(guān)注文章中反復(fù)出現(xiàn)的關(guān)鍵詞。 Reading strategy, skimming, scanning,a general idea, certain information, titles and headings, the first and last sentences of paragraphs, the first and last paragraphs, pictures and charts,Scan the text for key words and phrases, dates, etc.,Do not need to read the whole text.,Skimming for general ideas,Go through the passage as quickly as possible and choose the best answer.,Skimming,Reading Comprehension I,The Reading text is an essay about _.
