when引導的時間狀語既可表示時間段,又可以表示時間點,也就是說謂語動詞既可以是持續(xù)性動詞,也可以是終止性動詞(即瞬間動詞);而while引導的時間狀語只能表示時間段,也就是謂語動詞只能是持續(xù)性動詞。?

?由when引導的時間狀語從句,如果主句用過去進行時,則從句要用一般過去時,表示一個動作正在進行時,另一動作突然發(fā)生,強調后一動作的突然性。如:Thestudentsweretalkingloudlywhentheteachercamein.(強調老師進來的突然性)Theteachercameinwhile/whenthestudentsweretalkingloudly.(只表示老師進來這個事實,不強調突然性)?

?當從句和主句的動作都是持續(xù)性或是同時發(fā)生的,兩句都用過去進行時的時候,多用while引導。這種句子多是前后兩者形成對比。如:Iamateacherwhileheisastudent.我是一位老師而他是一名學生。Iwasreadingamagazinewhilemymumwascooking.我在讀雜志時我媽媽在煮飯。?
