Analysisofthetextbookinthislesson:

ThislessonispartofUnit6SpaceandBeyondUnderstandingideasinVolume4oftheForeignStudyEdition(2019).Thislessonmainlyfocusesonspaceexploration.Byreadingandunderstandingthecontentofthearticle,ithelpsstudentsunderstandthehistoryandfutureofspaceexploration,andcultivatestheirreadingabilityandsubjectknowledge.

Teachingobjectives:

1.Knowledgeobjective:Tounderstandthehistoryanddevelopmentofspaceexplorationandtobeabletounderstandkeyinformationanddetailsinthetext.

2.Skillobjective:Todevelopstudents'readingprehensionability,andtofindoutthekeypointsanddifficultiesinarticlesbyadoptingappropriatemethods.

3.Emotionalgoal:Tocultivatestudents'interestinspaceexplorationandspiritofexploration.

Teachingfocus:

1.Learnthehistoryandmajoreventsofspaceexploration.

2.Masterthereadingstrategyandunderstandthekeyinformationanddetailsinthearticle.

Teachingdifficulties:

1.Studentshavelittleknowledgebaseonthehistoryanddevelopmentofspaceexploration,anditisdifficulttounderstand.

2.Studentsmayencountersomeconceptsthataremoreabstractanddifficulttounderstand.

Analysisoflearningsituation:

ThestudentisasophomoreinhighschoolandhasstrongEnglishlistening,speaking,readingandwritingskills.However,studentsmayhavelessknowledgeofspaceexplorationandarelativelyshallowunderstandingofthesubject.Therefore,thislessonshouldfocusontheintroductionandexplanationofstudents'backgroundknowledge,andguidestudentstounderstandabstractconceptsaccordingtocontextintheprocessofreadingprehension.

Teachingstrategy:

1.Stimulatestudents'interestinlearningandattractstudents'attentionbyintroducinginterestingeventsanddiscoveriesinspaceexploration.

2.Setupquestionorientationtostimulatestudents'thinkingandanalysisabilitybyallowingthemtoindependentlysearchforkeyinformationinthereadingprocess.

3.Guidestudentstocarryoutcooperativelearning,anddeepenstudents'understandingofthecontentofthearticlethroughgroupcooperativediscussion,conceptclarificationandinformationintegration.

Teachingmethod:

1.Multimediadisplaymethod:Providerelevantbackgroundknowledgethroughmultimediasuchaspicturesandvideos.

2.Readingmethod:Thebinationofspeedreadinganddetailedreadingisadoptedtohelpstudentseffectivelyobtainthemaininformationanddetailsofthearticle.

3.Cooperativelearningmethod:Throughgroupcooperativelearning,studentscansolveproblemstogetherintheinteractionandimprovethelearningeffect.

Introduction(about5minutes):

Content:Introducestudentstothebasicsofspaceandtheuniverse

Teachingactivities:Drawdiagramsofspaceandtheuniverseontheblackboard,andthenhaveinteractivequestionsandanswerswithstudentstoguidestudentstothinkandreviewwhattheyhavelearnedaboutspaceandtheuniverse.Forexample,askstudentswhatplanetsareinspace,whetherthesunisaplanetoraplanet,etc.

Classroominteraction(approx.35minutes):

Content:Learnandunderstandthekeyconceptsandmaincontentinthetext

TeachingActivities:

1.Predictionexercise:Showstudentsthetitleandopeningparagraphofthetext,askstudentstomakepredictions,andsharetheirguesseswiththeirpeers.

2.Speedreading:Letstudentsreadthetextbythemselvestounderstandthestructureandbasiccontentofthewholearticle.

3.Closereading:Dividethetextintosections,arrangeagroupforindepthunderstandingandanalysisofeachparagraph,andselectkeywordsandmainideasfromthem.

4.Imaginationexercise:Guidestudentstoanswersomequestions,suchas,whyistheauthorsofascinatedbyspace?Whatarethebenefitsofspaceexplorationformankind?

5.Cooperativeinquiry:Dividestudentsintogroupsandaskthemtoexploreanddiscussthetopicsmentionedinthetext,andpresenttheirfindingsandideasinthegroup.

6.Languagedevelopment:Teachsomerelevantvocabularyandgrammarknowledgethroughexamplesentencesandkeywordsinthetext.

Endsession(approx.5minutes):

Teachingcontent:Summarizetheclasscontentandgivefeedbacktostudents

TeachingActivities:

1.Studentdiscussion:Askseveralstudentstosummarizetheirfindingsandideasfromthegroupdiscussionandsharethemwiththeclass.

2.Teacherfeedback:Giverecognitionandencouragementtostudents'performance,andpointoutareaswheretheycanimprovefurther.

3.Assignment:Givestudentsrelevantassignments,suchaswritinganessayonspaceexplorationorpreparingagrouppresentation.

Throughtheaboveteachingprocess,studentscanactivelythinkintheinteraction,deeplyunderstandthetextandaccumulaterelevantknowledge.Atthesametime,groupinquiryandcooperativelearningcanalsocultivatestudents'teamworkandmunicationskills.Attheendofthesession,teacherfeedbackandassignmenthelpstudentsfurtherconsolidatewhattheyhavelearned.

Teachingreflection:

Inthecourseofteaching,Ifoundthatstudents'knowledgeoftheuniversewasuneven,sotheyweresomewhatconfusedwhendoingclassroomexercises.Ishouldpaymoreattentiontodevelopingstudents'readingprehensionabilityandguidethemtounderstandthemainpointsofthetextbetterinclass.Inaddition,formultiplechoicequestions,Ishouldalsoavoidsomeobviouswrongchoicesinordertobetterteststudents'masteryofknowledge.
