decoratingitwithourschoolcoloursandcreatingasupportiveatmosphere.

Thenextday,Iwasgettingreadyformyevents.Thelongjumpwasscheduledfortheearlyafternoon,

followedbythe8x50mrelaylaterintheafternoon.IthoughtIwasaprettygoodjumper;butasthe

competitionbegan,IrealisedIwasvastlyoutclassed.Wefinishedourjumps,andIcameinfourthplace,

justmissingoutonamedal.

Thatwasdisappointing,butIremindedmyselfthatwestillhadachanceinthe8x50mrelay,forwhichI

wasassignedtorunthefifthleg.Theracedatearrived.Wefiledintoourassignedspotsandprepared

fortherace.Afteratenseminuteorso,Iheardthestarter'sgungooff.Whenthefirstrunnerstookoff,

Iwatchednervouslyandexcitedlyasmyteamrunnerskeptupwiththeothers.Astheygotcloser,I

realisedwewereatleastinsecondplace.
