Inourdailylife,wehavetocomeintocontactwithdifferentpeopleineverywalkoflife.Noonecanlivealoneintheworld.Friendsplayanimportantpartinourlives.Therefore,itisveryimportantforustoknowhowtogetalongwellwithotherpeopleandestablishagoodfriendship.

Asforthequestion“howtogetalongwellwithothers”,differentpeoplehavedifferentways.Inmyopinion,honesty,optimisticattitudetowardslifeandbroad-mindednessarethethreeimportantvirtuesforustogetwellwithotherpeople.Honestyisthebestpolicy.Thisproverbsignifiestheimportanceofhonesty.ItisregardedasthetraditionalvirtueofChinesenation.Tobehonestmeansweshouldtreatpeoplewithourtrueheartandsaywhatwemean.Itwillbenefitusalot.

Foronehand,youcanwinahighreputationandpeople’strust.Thus,peoplemayfeelcomfortableandhappywhentheygetalongwithyou,whichwillbringmoreandmorefriendstoyou.Foranotherhand,whenyouareintrouble,peoplewilltrytheirbesttohelpyousinceyouhavewontheirtrust.Incontrast,dishonestycanresultinguiltyfeelings,becausedistrustamongpeople,ruinyourreputationandevenkeeppeoplestayfarawayfromyou.

OneoftheAesop’sFables-----TheBoyWhoCriedWolfisthebeststorytoprovethebadeffectofdishonesty.Theshepherdboyliesthatthewolfiscomingforseveraltimes.Peoplewhoarecheatedbyhimwouldnevertrusthim.Soatlast,whenthewolfreallycomes,noonetrustshimandallhissheepwereeatenbythewolf.Dishonestynotonlymakesyoulosefriends,butalsomaterialgains.Inaword,honestyisthebestpolicywhenwegetalongwithothers.Takeanoptimisticattitudetolife.Ourattitudecanleadustohavedifferentemotions,andtheseemotionscanalsochangehowitisweunderstandtheworldemotionally.Optimist,whobelievesthatthefuturewillbegoodandthatthingswillendwell,liveahappierlifethanthosewhoholdthenegativeattitudetowardslife.Sothattheyfeelhopefulaboutlifeandabouttheworld.Withthispositiveemotion,theytreatotherpeoplekindlysincetheybelievethatotherswouldbealsofriendlytothem.Thus,theyarewelcomeandrespectedbypeoplewhichcanmakethemgetalongwithothermoreeasily.

Therefore,youmustbeinanoptimisticattitudetowardslifenomatterwhatkindofweatheryouareintodayorwhatkindofpersonyoucomeacrossonyourliferoad.Youshouldunderstandthatthepastdoesnotequalthefuture,letgooftheassumptionthattheworldisagainstyouandbethankful.Ifyouinsistdoingthosethings,youwouldbecomeanoptimistandfindthatitiseasytogetwellwithothers.Beingbroad-mindedisessential.Broad-mindednessisanoblevirtueintheworld,akindofself-cultivationandanartofgettingalongwithpeople.Thereisasayingsays,“Theseaisthevastestontheearth.Theskyisvasterthanthesea.Ahumanmindisthemostamongthethree.”Beingabroad-mindedperson,youcantoleratepeople’sshortcomingandfaultanddefusethecontradictionbetweenyouandothers.
