InIndia,thesector’sdirectcontributiontoGDPisexpectedtogrowby7.1percentperannumduring2018-28.
Thetravel&tourismsectorinIndiaaccountedfor8percentofthetotalemploymentopportunitiesgeneratedinthecountryin2017,providingemploymenttoaround41.6millionpeopleduringthesameyear.Thenumberisexpectedtoriseby2percentannumto52.3millionjobsby2028.

ForeignerstravellingtoIndiaone-touristvisawillreceiveaBSNLSIMcardwhichwillbepreactivatedandloadedwithtalktimeanddata.
Under‘ProjectMausam’theGovernmentofIndiahasproposedtoestablishcrossculturallinkages&torevivehistoricmaritimecultural&economictieswith39IndianOceancountries.In2015,GovernmentofIndialinkedChinaSilkRoadprojectwithProjectMausam.

In2018,MarriottInternationalplanstoadd20morepropertiestoitsexistingportfolioof98hotelsinIndia.
LouvreHotelsGroup,world’sfifthlargesthotelgroup,planstoincreaseitsbusinessinIndiato10-15percentby2021from5-7percent,asofSeptember2018.
CollectivegovernmentspendinginIndiaontravelandtourismisexpectedtoreachRs367.9billion(US$5.85billion)in2028fromRs169.8billion(US$
2.81billion)in2017.
InSeptember2018,theIndiangovernmentlaunchedthe‘IncredibleIndia
MobileApp’toassistthetravellertoIndiaandshowcasemajorexperiencesfortravelling.
