ManypeoplesimplyregardPrideandPrejudiceasalovestory,butinmyopinion,thisbookisanillustrationofthesocietyatthattime.Sheperfectlyreflectedtherelationbetweenmoneyandmarriageathertimeandgavethepeopleinherworksvividcharacters.Thecharactershavetheirownpersonalities.Mrs.Bennetisawomanwhomakesgreateffortstomarryoffherdaughters.Mr.Bingleyisafriendlyyoungman,buthisfriend,Mr.Darcy,isaveryproudmanwhoseemstoalwaysfeelsuperior.EventhefivedaughtersinBennetfamilyareverydifferent.Janeissimple,innocentandneverspeaksevilofothers.Elizabethisaclevergirlwhoalwayshasherownopinion.Marylikesreadingclassicbooks.(Actuallysheisapedant.)Kittydoesnthaveherownopinionbutlikestofollowhersister,Lydia.Lydiaisagirlwhofollowse*oticthings,handsomeman,andissomehowalittleprofligate.WhenIreadthebook,Icanalwaysfindthesamepersonalitiesinthesocietynow.ThatiswhyIthinkthisbookisindeedtherepresentativeofthesocietyinBritaininthe18thcentury.

Thefirstsentenceinthisbookisimpressive.Itreads:"Itisatruthwellknowntoalltheworldthatanunmarriedmaninpossessionofalargefortunemustbeinneedofawife'。Theundertoneisveryclear:thefoundationofthemarriageatthattimeisnotemotionbutpossession.

PeoplealwaysthinkthatAustenwasane*pertattellinglovestories.Infact,themarriageinherbookisnottheresultoflove,buttheresultofeconomicneeds.Afterreadingthisbook,Iknowthetruthisthatapoorwomanmustbeinneedofahusband,awealthyman.
