TeachingProcedures
1.Warm-up(5minutes)
Begintheclassbyaskingstudentsabouttheirfavoriteschoolsubjects.Writetheirresponsesontheboardandbrieflydiscusstheirreasonsforlikingthosesubjects.
2.Presentation(10minutes)
Introducethekeyvocabularyrelatedtoschoolsubjectsusingflashcardsorvisualaids.Pronounceeachwordclearlyandaskstudentstorepeatafteryou.Drillthepronunciationandmeaningofeachworduntilstudentsarefamiliarwiththem.
3.Listening(15minutes)
ProvidestudentswiththeaudiorecordingforSectionB1a.Instructthemtolistencarefullyandfillinthemissinginformationontheirworksheets.Playtheaudiorecordingtwicetoensureallstudentshaveachancetocompletetheactivity.
4.GroupDiscussion(10minutes)
Dividetheclassintosmallgroupsandassigneachgroupadifferentschoolsubject.Instructthemtodiscussthefollowingquestionswithintheirgroups:-Whatdoyoulearninthissubject?-Isiteasyordifficultforyou?Why?-Doyouthinkthissubjectisimportant?Whyorwhynot?
Encouragestudentstoexpresstheiropinionsandprovidejustificationsfortheiranswers.Afterthediscussion,selectafewgroupstosharetheirthoughtswiththewholeclass.
5.ListeningComprehension(15minutes)
ProvidestudentswiththeaudiorecordingforSectionB1b.Instructthemtolistencarefullyandanswerthequestionsontheirworksheets.Playtheaudiorecordingtwicetoallowallstudentssufficienttimetoanswer.
6.PairWork(10minutes)
Pairupstudentsandgiveeachpairasetofquestioncardsrelatedtoschoolsubjects.Instructthemtotaketurnsaskingandansweringquestionsusingthequestionwords:what,when,where,who,andhowoften.Encouragethemtoprovidedetailedandmeaningfulanswers.
7.ReadingandSpeaking(15minutes)
ProvidestudentswiththereadingpassageinSectionB1c.Instructthemtoreadthepassagesilentlyandunderlineanyunfamiliarwords.Discussthemeaningofthesewordsasaclassandensureeveryoneunderstandsthepassage.
Dividetheclassintopairsandassigneachpairarole:StudentAorStudentB.StudentAwillbeareporterwhointerviewsStudentBabouttheirfavoriteschoolsubject.StudentBshouldrespondbyprovidingdetailedanswersusingthequestionwordsprovidedontheirworksheet.Encouragestudentstogobeyondsimpleone-wordanswersandengageinmeaningfulconversations.
8.Role-play(10minutes)
Inpairs,assignonestudentasateacherandtheotherasastudent.Theteachershouldcomeupwithascenariowherethestudentisstrugglingwithaparticularschoolsubject.Thestudentshouldaskforhelp,andtheteachershouldprovideexplanationsandguidance.Encouragestudentstousethevocabularyandquestionwordstheyhavelearnedthroughoutthelesson.
9.Wrap-up(5minutes)
Summarizethekeypointscoveredinthelessonandaskstudentstoreflectonwhattheyhavelearned.Givethemanopportunitytoaskanyremainingquestionsorvoiceanyconcernstheymayhave.
